Hi,
I hope you don't mind my question
(if so, just don't answer):
Is there a special meaning behind your nickname?
Does it have to do with the animal that's called 'otter'?
Or did you try to type 'The Other Judy'?

So, some months later I see this query! Sorry about that Florian. Just thought I'd see what other possible subjects there could be BESIDES Gord, and ran across your topic.
I LOVE River Otters (not Sea Otters, tho' they're cute too, just too popular.) So it was a natural screen name to be theotterjudy.
I have tons of photos, artwork, sculptures, movies, documentaries, and miscellaneous otter-related items. Also
a disc of otter downloads so I can have a different otter on my computer desktop any time I want a change! (See the Gord discussion forum topic I just added. Not really a topic, but a cool idea.) You might say I'm OTTERLY obsessed. And utterly obsessed with Gord......

Hi theotterjudy,
That's a fun thing to collect.
Here's one more for your collection:
Title:
"Beautiful reproduction print on Canvas titled River Otter originally by Larry Martin"
Well, I myself collect Wild Boars, so I fully understand your hobby.

One more interesting thing:
Do you know the the river-otter is featured on license plates in Pennsylvania?

Wow, Florian, I'm overwhelmed with your response. I didn't know about the license plates in Penn. And the artwork is outstanding! I'll try to save them both.
Wild boars, huh? Now THAT'S an unusual collection. I don't have anything to share with you on that, but I'll keep it in mind. You don't hunt them, do you? I would hope not.
Thanks for the response!
You never know what you'll find at this site. Never a dull moment!

Hi,
Of course I don't hunt them. If I ever get my hands on a decent digital camera, I plan to make photos of my collection and put it on the internet.

I would do the same but it would take three years! (Good idea, though).
You probably have the same assortment of photos, sculptures, misc. and such for boars that I have for the otters, right?
I can honestly say that I've never heard of wild boars being collected. You are probably unique in that. Go for it!

Is this a new license plate for Pennsylvania? I have lived in New York State for many years and all the Pennsylvania license plates I have ever seen don't look a thing like this! For those who are geographically challenged; New York and Pennsylvania are adjacent to each other.

The 'River-Otter' plate is the newest special plate issued in Pennsylvania. It's the sucessor to the Owl plate which was retired last year.

Florian,
That's very interesting, the only Pennsylvania plate I have ever seen is an ugly shade of yellow which has the state nick name of the Keystone State on it.
I know you live in Vienna, Austria from your profile but are you from Pennsylvania?

Hi Dan,
You are right, I live in Vienna, Austria.
When I heard about Judy's hobby I just tried if I can come up with something for her.
I've found this painting and the info about the license plate.

Florian, just discovered your site and have been bleary-eyed ever since reading every scrap of GL info. And my compliments on the quality of the page. You obviously know alot about web page development. I've checked out the other discussion sites and yours is so easy to navigate and follow the threads. Is this a hobby for you or an occupation...or perhaps a "labor of love?"
Are you familiar with the "Javelina" also known as collared peccary found in Arizona/Mexico? I found them to be cute, ellusive, and fascinating. Are they similar to the wild boars your interested in? I do have a cute little stuffed javelina (toy).

To Judy,
On the local newscast, there was a piece that the river otter was being introduced to Central New York State. They took a number of otters from another location and are hopeful that these beautiful animals will again call central New York State home.

Good to know, Sundownbuff! Thanks for the info. My flight leaves shortly, LOL.!
(Hope those foreign otters get along with the Adirondack otters - they'll be neighbors!)
