A question ?
I do have on CD of the interview Gord & Barry Keane did in 2006 on Fan 590, duration time 1:01:34. Very enjoyable, and do listen to it once in a while.
Wondering if the two others can be burned on a CD as well.
The one before Christmas which lasted 3 hours, again w/ Barry Keane. I did listen to all of it, but then the following day we took off to a Ski Resort for the holidays.
And then the other one which CHar was the first caller... And Gord had to do from his home office. (snowbound) Are they out there to be burned on a CD-R ?? Would appreciate info on these matters !

Re: A question ?
one is on CD but the other needs to have commercials/news/weather edited out to make it fit onto a CD..I'll be working on it soon..as soon as I figure out the recorder programme and how to edit..lol

I think I said before that if you can make a lowish quality mp3 (as low as 32 KBPS for example)
using musicmatch original as downloaded from
the archival site
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=mmatch
then the recordings would be small and could fit onto a data CD (not a full 80 minute Music CD)
Or as the files would be relatively small you could even upload them to a free file storage site. be adventurous young lady your public awaits you!!

Hey hey not so flaming fast you bumptious young man! I'll thank you for not being so presumptuous.
Here is a recap(itulation)(no not titulation! that is something altogether different and revealing)
If you were to bother to take the elementary step of scrolling down a little in this very thread you will in point of fact discover that on March 5 03-05-2008, 03:52 PM
Char said in this very same thread:-
"one is on CD but the other needs to have commercials/news/weather edited out to make it fit onto a CD..I'll be working on it soon..as soon as I figure out the recorder programme and how to edit..lol"
my fairly prompt response was at 5:34 the same day because I reasoned that she might appreciate some help in her dilemma!!!
So Omer you are out of court because Char's new thread
"Lightfoot radio interview links to downloads"
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=18218
was actually not posted until a little later
03-05-2008, 06:37 PM
I appreciate that it was confusing because CHar started (as of course is her prerogative)(yes "roger") a completely new thread to give the links to her uploaded mp3s instead of appending it to this your question thread
I'll return once the second ginormous file has downloaded with a few very relevant albeit pithy comments about mp3 file quality and file size
so far 59.4MB (a mighty 53%) of her 112MB file has downloaded for me on this cretinous dialup only 15 hours to go allegedly!!
Friggin Nora in trying to find Char's thread to refer to I inadvertently seem to have closed the friggin download so it's back to square one dammit. This time the estimate is a mere 38 hours stone the bloody crows
Talk to you again soon!!!(sometime next week)

Re: A question ?
Well then John, thank you for your help in assisting Char, with her 2 gl radio interviews. Thanks to every one else who were involved I suspect maybe Char's daughter Lisa, also was involved, since one link had lisa in it... I would also like to thank the academy, the city of Toronto, Fan 590, CFRB, Barry Keane, and last but certainly not least THE MAN himself Gordon Lightfoot for giving those interviews...

sorry Char I don't call an mp3 of 122MB small enough for anything worthwhile.let alone emailing .I am valiantly trying to download the bloody thing (second attempt) so that I can check what impossibly high and unrealistic bitrate it was encoded at then try to make it a more amenable size by reencoding it at something very much smaller and more useful/realistic
(the other file was encoded to mp3 at either 24KBPS or Variable Bit Rate (VBR))

Re: A question ?
I've downloaded from the link above and got a .DVF file. What in the world is a .DVF!

Re: A question ?
According to Sony:
Compressed audio file format used by Sony's IC digital audio recorders, such as the ICD-BP100 and ICD-BP150; proprietary audio format that is only recognized by Sony software; can be converted to the more standard .WAV format using the Sony Digital Voice Editor.

Re: A question ?
DVF-Digital Voice File..like Bill said it's a Sony recorder thing..
lol
that's my technical take on it..
here's the large file size as an MP3 for anyone who can't get the DVF to work..

{lol} Char as I sit here and read this I can almost see you laughing, lol after all we 50 + years of age were never taught computer in school. And we have to do the best we can... The clock on my computer says 3:50 am. A computer's got a mind of it's own, the time switch changes itself, even if this year we had 29 days in February.

Re: A question ?
Oh dear oh dear you are all just like sheep who lay on their backs with their legs in the air waiting to die.
You must surely have heard of google??
A simple search for "dvf to mp3" produces no less than 784,000 results starting with
"Ron’s Blog » Using those Sony DVF files
Install all three of these things, and you’ll be able to (a) convert batches of DVF files to MP3 (or WAV) with the converter, (b) handle the files nicely .
the web page is
http://ron.ozrock.net/blog/tech/sony-dvf-files/
so just mayber the ron who is blogging is our own catmanron???"
If you don't fancy that one
the third says
"convert DVF to MP3 [Archive] - iAudiophile.net Forums
Hey, did you try the dvf to mp3 converter (http://www.soft29.com/dvf_to_mp3.html)? Which software works for your dvf files finally? ...
iaudiophile.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-11364.html "
of course therse might entail the forking out of cash so I searched within those results for "freeware"
this reduced the results to a mere 3610
the first says
"Mr. Free Free - dvf mp3 converter
Search Results dvf mp3 converter ... The audio is extracted in mp3 format. 960 KB. Freeware for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. Requires a 400 MHZ processor and 64 ...
www.mrfreefree.com/free/dvf__mp3_converter/1/"
what I really want to know is how CHar ended up with a dvf file in the first place.
I taught I had advised her to get musicmatch with which she should have easily been able to convert the original ginormous
mp3 to one at a lower bitrate

Re: A question ?
the DVF file comes right from the actual SONY recorder..that is what it 'uses' and it specifically says it does not convert files to MP3 in the manual.
I used the website that DaveV used - can't do much more ..
