I am a 3rd yr psychology student at the University of Manchester. I am currently researching trust and identification on discussion forums. Furthermore, does identification aid the development of trust between discussion forum users? I require regular discussion forum users to fill in an online questionnaire. It should not take long and your contribution will be greatly valued. This project has been approved by the School of Psychological Sciences Research Ethics Committee (ref 137/05)”
Thank you for your assistance
Marie – Claire Griffiths

Well, let's look at it. This is our/the/a Gordon Lightfoot Discussion Forum. Marie is conducting research into discussion forums, particularly band forums. So our forum would make a great choice to include in her study. So she invited us to participate. So this is about a Gordon Lightfoot forum. Gordon Lightfoot is discussed at the forum. So that's what it has to do with Gordon Lightfoot.
Are you chanelling DMD3? Or are you just cranky by nature ?

I have also completed the form. I'm interested to see what you think our answers prove/disprove, etc.

Jeffyjo, I don't think the person who posted this topic will come back to check our comments. She just wanted us to take the survey at another site. She's a busy student.

Hey Touhy, why don't you venture over to the "M*A*S*H Online" Board and converse with a character named "pethead"?
He and/or she also asks that annoying and useless question...
"What does this have to do with Lightfoot/MASH?" (or whatever)
Do us a favor and stop wasting space on our "Gordon Lightfoot Discussion Board",if you can't contribute something besides nitpicking, then don't type anything, thank you. :D

Way to go, Borderstone. You've proven to us that you aren't always Mr. Nice Guy. Sometimes you just have to get it all out of your system!

I've completed the survey as well. I too find it interesting and wish I new when/where the findings will be published.

OK OK I "done" the survey also
Interestingly to me about this topic is the fact that my brother in law is Professor John Vint at the "other" university in Manchester England, where he is a "clever trousers" and
Head of Economics Department in the Department of Economics at Manchester Metropolitan University
http://www.hlss.mmu.ac.uk/economics/...ile.php?id=110

and yes for anyone asking or thinking this should not be here he does have a Lightfoot connection (other than me)
as both he and my sister were late 60's postgraduate students at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontariario, following which he worked for a while in Ottawa where he saw Gord in concert.
John Fowles
I will leave a private mesage for Marie - Claire suggesting that she follow up on the results of her survey in due course and post again

B buddy! Give Touhy a little break, we do try to keep this side of the forum for Gord related. This was just an unusual request.
B - you need a vacation to Vegas with all the lightheads! Now if we can figure out a way to get Gord to come and play!

brink,
Borderstone is right on in this case. Do a search on all "what's her name's" posts and you will see the pattern. Strange but true. Believe it or not.

Right you are Bill, I think you may be on to something there and DMD has moved to IL. Very odd.
Sorry B baby.
But we must still continue our plans to Vegas when we can get Gord there!

I have provided all that is within my brain for analysis.
I think they may be puzzled.
PS Notably the professor is an in-law of John's (i.e. he does not have any close genetic link with him re the intelligence genes.)
In fact John would seem to have more in the "up there for thinkin'" stakes with

I have fond memories of "F Troop." Any sitcom that hires the wonderfully loopy Edward Everett Horton (Roaring Chicken) gets my vote. As for Larry Storch (Corporal Agarn) he's had a very long and colorful career starting way back in vaudeville and continuing into radio, movies, television, voice-overs and stage work (including a touring musical version of Some Liek It Hot in 2003 with lifelong buddy Tony Curtis.) He's also one of the zillion stand-up comics on "The Aristocrats." Storch is 83, and Warner has just released the DVD of "F Troop." One trivia bit: Storch is credited by the late Cary Grant as having been the real originator of the "Judy Judy Judy" shtick used by most people who do a Cary Grant impression. According to Grant, Storch was playing a nightclub gig and was in the middle of a Grant impression when Judy Garland showed up as a patron, and Storch greeted her in character.

Aw,Annie...you beat me to it! I was going to do the theme song (I forgot most of the words anyway.) I watched "F Troop" in the '80s on one of our local channels here. I consider it a precursor to Mel Brooks "Blazing Saddles" (although much "cleaner". :D )
No sweat Brink,I understand you in what your saying,I've always done my best to stay on topic. Funny thing i noticed about Touhy's registration, she became a member on my birthday in 2004 (June 13th.) DMD3's messages end less than 2 months after that.

Re: The Touhy conspiracy theory:
I refer you to an incisive thread started by AOTA
in the Small Talk section

(Yes beleive it or that was it in total !!)
I smelt a rat back on July 29 2005 as you can see by part of my reply which was unashamedly rude:
I wrote in reply to the sniping at the Rez that followed...
" I have a similar but slightly more targeted question . Why do people post unintelligible threads ? Why do people use the anonymity of the 'Net (sometimes taking on multiple personalities) to hide their inadequacies ? "
" Please beware of the water that DMD3 and Harmony (among other "personalities") drink . "
I was so sure of my suspicions I checked out word patterns including the dropping of plurals and certain spelling errors in common to the 2 "people".
I concluded there was significant evidence to support your theories.
