Hey everyone, I apologize for not knowing very much about Gordon Lightfoot, I'm not much of a music buff. However my fiancee is a HUGE fan. This is our first Christmas engaged and I would like to get him a very special gift. His favorite song is Cotton Jenny, maybe because my name is Jennie? Anyway I would really appreciate it if any of you could suggest a really great Lightfoot gift that I could give to him. Or a website that has some great, unique stuff. Thanks in advance for your help.

this sounds like the GL fans dream!
I'd start with listing what Steve has, all the Albums in CD format, and then figure out what he needs to fill in the gaps.
If Steve has never been to a GL concert, you can fix that, too.
The last suggestion is the ultimate GL fans experience! If that is not doable, try a concert on DVD.

This is the current tour schedule for 2007 - it doesn't seem there are any dates in locations near you tho...Keep watch tho.

SONGBOOK would be a great gift if he doesn't have it.....
search Gordon Lightfoot at EBay as well.
Let us know what you give him!

Songbook is a fantastic idea. You could top it off with sending the box to Gord's office with a request for an autograph. Like Char said, keep an eye out for a concert near you. That said, Steve has great taste: Being a Gord fan and finding a girl that cares enough to give the very best! You'll become a HUGE fan too.

Like Peter Bro10 said, a concert on DVD. "Live In Reno." And then of course your heart... But he must already have that, right?
Cheers ~Jesse~

Now, as I give this some thought, your Steve, since he's a Lightfoot fan, is obviouly a fine chap indeed! lol.
There is also the distict possiblility that he's a corfidian and is reading all of these too!!! and there goes your element of surpise!

Yeah I'd thought of that too.

Hi Jennie aka Steves Girl;
All of the above - tickets, songbook, DVD, etc are great ideas and to add, I have a neat personalized idea but it would require a little time/effort on your part.
Make him a Lightfoot lyric book/scrapbook using the internet and any other resources. If you are artistically inclined as well, decorate the cover and margins with artwork or use a stencil to make scrolls or flowers or whatever you fancy would be pleasing to your beloved. Be creative and fun, add whatever you want.
Not only would this be handy for his own reference but I'm sure he would be very moved at your efforts to create something personal and unique for him.
Good luck,
Jen

Perhaps squares of material could be sent out to all willing Corid members and we could use our collective talents to add messages or place pictoral representations of Gordon's songs which could then be sent back to willing seamstresses to assembled into a quilt, signed by the band and then presented to your fiancee.
No, sorry, that has alraady been done "in reverse" where "Lightheads" assembled a quilt with the center square signed by Gord and "his boys" for "Sir John" and his lovely wife Susan.
No, I am not trying to be funny. John and Susan have a tremendous love story. Perhaps the cross ocean tale of romance and a current photo of the quilt could be shared with the newer members of this group to demonstrate the powers and show the possibilities that exist within this Corfid group.
No doubt about it. We are all family - by choice!
Best to you both! (new and previous)
Yuri
