I would agree with APPT and think Drifters would be a cool name, I don't know about the rest.

Gord is a perfectionist. He has his own reasons for all the album titles. Perhaps a change in title sounds better merely because it's a change?

As for APPT, Gord said in an interview that is the one song that best describes his life. So it's a very appropriate album title, even though Drifters is one of my faves too!

someone, lol, once said "a rose by any other name..." of course my memory is not what it once was - but it's as good once, as it ever was...

Fading Away, I agree with you about Summertime Dream and Salute. Summertime Dream seems too generic as a title - Race Among the Ruins would be much better. Plus I love that song.

Without You would be more appropriate for Salute...sad but true.

Fantastic ideal for a post Fading Away. My hat's off to you for this one.

My answer is, I like them all the way they are.

It's like David(djb) writes,"Gord is a perfectionist." And he owns them, so he has is own reasons for naming them as he did.

It is however very interesting to see what his fans think.

A great post. Good job my man...~Jesse~

In retrospect, it's fairly easy for us to look back and say, "the album should have been named (insert the name of your favorite song)." But in all fairness, especially with his earlier work, he really had no clue what would, or wouldn't be a hit, and end up as the 'theme song' of an album. Take Sit Down Young Stranger, for example. IYCRMM was a big hit, and the album name was changed soon after it's release.
And there are probably personal reasons why Gord chooses album names, some of which we'll probably never know.

Marketing is a very strong consideration in the naming of the album. The quality of the possible title song for a hit also was a factor in determining what to name an album. I read somewhere that record company had input into the naming of the albums but Gord had control over the order of the songs.

I recall that Rainy Day People and Race Among the Ruins were the working titles for the albums that eventually become Cold on the Shoulder and Summertime Dream.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but "Let It Ride" was the working title for the album that became "East of Midnight."

The one obvious clunker among Gord's albums is "Back Here on Earth". Still don't know what that title meant and his smelling of a flower did for sales. Probably the record company came up with that one. The songs "Long Way Back Home" or "Unsettled Ways" were strong candidates for the title track.

I forgot to include Back Here On Earth, but you took the words right from my mouth, Seafarer. Those 2 would have been the best title tracks had they not come up with BHOE.
