I'll be in Cerritos and at the Orleans Casino in Vegas on May 1.
I'll post my seats later (not near them now).
Under Victor Borge sounds great!
Any decision on Mimi's? Which one? If not, the "Little India" section is very close by on Pioneer Blvd. There is a VERY plain little hole in the wall called the "Little India Grill" at 18383 Pioneer Blvd- Great food! In Artesia, an enclave completely surrounded by the town of Cerritos. The smells in this area are to die for!
Little India Grill phone # is 562-924-7569.

Sounds like a plan! Me & my friend Sharon will be there. Should we ball park the rsvps & make a reservation?

RE: RSVPs & Reservations at Mimi's
Strong idea Craig. Anyone up to assembling the info? I'd volunteer, but flunked out of Pre-School.

Ok, I'll be stood by the wall (without any warning at all), and shot by the man in blue! (name that {GL} tune).
Anybody going to Mimi can contact me at :
votemerrihue@yahoo.com ; or this thread. Let's get 'em in as early as possible. I'll call Mimi's & let them know.
BTW, Rez, do you live in Balboa, as in, the island (NB)?
My friend Sharon lives on Balboa Island. She became a Lighthead when I introduced her to Harmony last May, and now she has everything but "Sunday Concert" and "Songbook", and listens to nothing but Gord!

Balboa, as in the tip of the Penninsula (NB.)
Love that Ferry to the island. That, and The Crab Cooker.
Dick Dale used to be a neighbor, but he's long since moved to desert surf.

Craig,
My girlfriend Linda and I will be there at 6PM. Let's wait for Janice and Kim to RSVP and then we should have a fairly close head count. Mimi's Cafe does accept reservations weeks in advance. Thanks for offering to call and reserve a table for the group! May I suggest you make the reservation under the name "corfid?" That would allow any late arrivals to ask where we are seated.

Just what is a Corfid, anyhow"
Hey Bartender - a double Corfid straight up.
Doc, I did a face-rubber on my Corfid. You think you can fix 'er up?
Happy Cows are Corfid Cows.
Cork it, Rez
OK,

Craig, thanks for taking on this task - I'll be solo and there at 6pm. Hey, this is turning into a substantial gathering as far as volume goes - it was always substantial with regard to quality

Darn good question, Rez. I have no idea what "corfid" means. Perhaps our esteemed and generous host Florian could be so kind to offer an explanation? Or perhaps our charming moderator Charlene knows the answer?

On Home page, very bottom, About this website...Florian says:
"Why did I choose the name Corfid?
I loved to play one of the best computer games ever, The Bard's Tale. It was one of the very first role-playing games and I played it without end. An official clue-book has been released and in this clue-book one of the characters (the Bard) was named 'Corfid op Orfin', so ever since I called one of my characters in role-playing games Corfid."

Thanks Sheila Ann,
Very cool reason to choose Corfid. I shall tell my daughter about that. Summer loves the role-playing stuff (started out Mudding in college) She's now 27 and, like Corfid, uses obscure roll-names while gaming - and, of course, her e-mail.
Given that criteria, I figure I should change my "handle" to PONG.

Thank you Sheila Ann for the explanation!
And I laughed at the Rez' mention of PONG. I hate to admit it, but I too am old enough to remember that game when it debuted in bars in the early 70's. Guess I should start researching nearby nursing homes...

Pong -- I didn't get that one until Closet mentioned it again!! NOW I get it! Yes... I remember it well! Although I think we're *far* from nursing homes, ha! And *thank* you for asking about the origin of the name 'corfid.' I've been afraid to ask all this time...

The Joy of PONG:
(not a Christal Cathedral Production)
On slow nights in the saloons, my pardner & I would bash the PONGBALL forth and back on breaks. Come music time, we'd put the PONGSPEED on slow and "pause" the game. The PONGBALL would dutifully volly between Paddles for an hour or two until we'd return - and resume :D
On really slow nights, we'd inhale the laughing gas from the Whipped Cream canisters. Next night it would despense like Elmer's Glue.
Poor Bartenders
So this will have "Gord" content, I am typing wearing "polka-dot underwear."
Perhaps at Cerritos also . . . on the outside.
The Rez
PS: Enough ?

I'm just glad Gord didn't use his original line, replaced by the "polka-dot underwear" one.
The original referred to a "polka-dot thong."
Now that would take courage.

So far we have 8 rsvps, I believe: Kimberly + one,
The Rez, ClosetCanadian + Linda, Janice, and WishingWellGhost (Yo) and Sharon.
I WAS a bartender, in New Orleans, 1976-86, & have many a fond memory of Pong and the like.
Rez, now I remember, Balboa is a peninsula, not a island (and I really did major in Geography). Love Dick Dale. Can't wait to see the Green sweatshirt with the white wolf. I'm a sucker for both the color and the beast. I was considering wearing my black Green Lantern t-shirt 'cuz of the offhand reference to our own beloved "GL"; but my wife (who's not going)thinks it looks a might too causual.
Really can't wait to see you guys. Until my friend Sharon's conversion to Lightheadedness in the last year,I've never known anyone to whom GL was as near and dear to the heart as to mine own.
It will be a jolly meet.
