How many Gordon Lightfoot concerts did you attend?

Without checkin it out,somewhere arond 12 or so,in the past 6 or 8 years..
What I find nice to know is,there are many people that go to see 2,3,4 shows in a row!!Gloria and I have scheduled our vacation times to do this several times over the past years.I will continue this as long as Gord does..
Every year,when I tell my boss when I'm takin vacation,He say's,"goin to see the Indian Again".... Yepper This year He asked,"don't you get tired of seein the same person all the time???" Answer "Nope,Never"....

One of,if not the most unique relationships between an Artist and fans ,unreal,simple.Good Company hereabouts!!!

Wes - What part of Cleveland did you live in ? You mentioned a suburb of Cleveland. I grew up there, until as a family we moved to Colorado in '75. My family lived in the suburb of North Olmsted, off of Loraine Road in Forest Ridge.

I too saw Gord at Blossom, south of Cleveland. Do you remember the cooler checks at the entrance to the grassy venue ? LOL. Me and a good lifelong friend double-dated to it with new dates each. He wound up marrying his date - 6 years later.

My date, however, expressed non-chalance and boredom over Gord's music, and my feelings for her changed that day to "what did I ever see in her ?" from what I *SAW* in her LOL (she was pretty, but vacuous as it turned out *clearly* LOL. So I was young and did not yet have the right taste in women ! I swear a woman that does not melt listening to "Beautiful" has no soul !

oops - I forgot to mention that I've only attended 7 Lightfoot concerts by my count. They have, however, spanned '74 - '1999 if memory serves - 25 years ! Great years, I only wish I could have gone to far more concerts

Very Amazing, I think it's safe to say Jenney saw more concerts than anyone else.

But the one I envy the most is, Sir John Fowles. For seeing Gord in Montreal, Quebec. {Canada} in 1967, Canada's Centennial year, at EXPO, 67. Also at The New Penelope, Coffee House.

A young, long blond curly hair, Gordon Lightfoot, introducing all his early stuff. I would have been as they say, on Cloud Nine.

I counted 73 concerts that I went to so far. I started in either 1971 or 1972, and went to at least one a year except for the times he wasn't touring. Prior to the internet, it was almost impossible to find out where he was going to be, except my reading the paper every Sunday. I have the good fortune to live in New England where he always seemed to come around to, and things aren't that far apart. Even so, I missed a lot that I would have gone to had I known.

Add to the 73, I currently have tickets for the next 4 Massey Hall shows, and one more in 2007. I honestly thought I was closer to the 100 mark than I am, but maybe I'll get there yet!

The photo was take April 22, 2000 in Thousand Oaks, CA, by Brian Leviel who was kind enough to send me all his photos for use on my web site.

It also illustrates the down side of posting images with either ALT tag or separate captions as they lose their credits when catalogued by Google. Putting credits into every image is a royal pain in the you know what! John has a reference to and picture of Lightfoot's family crest from Scotland in his family ancestry thread. I did not know he was Scottish by heritage, either.

You know, when I was at his concert a couple of weeks ago, I went to Ticketmaster the minute (the second) they went on sale, and they didn't have any seats on the floor available at all, and I wound up in the 2nd row, center, but in the balcony. Maybe I'm naive, but how do you guys get the really good seats?

Actually that Scottish Lightfoot family crest may well be a red herring.In fact I am pretty sure that at one London concert he actually said words to the effect that he had been trying to trace his ancestors in Manchester

A lot of the venues have a "members first" pre-sale. A lot of tickets are gone during those pre-sale days. It also depends on the rows of seats - if it is a venue with an odd number of seats many times if you are buying a single tickets you can get a really good seat even after the members sale. Also, sometimes the venue will not release all the seats to ticketmaster or another online ticket broker.

Wolf Trap 2006 was my tenth. The first was at the Valley Forge Music Fair in Valley Forge, PA in 1994 or 1995.

BTW the Valley Forge Music Fair was a cool place to see a concert - it had a revolving stage in the center, and the seats surrounded it. They've since leveled the place to build condominiums. Very sad...

Ok this isn't completely related to the topic, but it got me thinking about something. When I saw Gord in concert in Mpls on 9/17, I remember him reminiscing between songs about playing at the old Guthrie in Mpls way back when, and then he said something that I thought a bit odd at the time. He said, "Maybe some of you were there?" Nobody hollered out, and it was just a briefly uncomfortable second, before he went onto something else. But what this makes me think is, he is very much aware of his devoted followers and specifically, those of you who have seen him over, and over, and over again through the decades. I think he was searching for one of you in the theatre that night, and that makes me think that you mean much more to him than just his ordinary fans do. Anyway, just my thoughts.

I have seen a number of Gord's wonderful shows but nothing near some of you Lighthead Groupies.
Although I started appreciating his music in the late '60's, I never really attended a concert until the early '80's. (stoopid me!) I got a job at Toronto Western Hospital which was a short trolly trip to Yonge St. and Shuter St. where Massey Hall stands. After my first concert, I don't believe I ever missed one year where he performed at that venue. Like many of you I often attended 3 or 4 shows during his yearly stint. Hope to be there this year as well.

I haven't ventured too far from home to see him perform. Once at The University of Western Ontario (UWO) when I was a student, and once at 'Hamilton Place' where he gave his first performance to thank the staff of McMaster University for his recovery.

I wonder if anyone in this Corfid group was in attendance at the 'Village Corner' when he played as the 'Two Tones' with Terry Wheelan?
