This photo was taken April 22, 2000 in Thousand Oaks, CA, by Brian Leviel...

Val Magee, has got a "great site" on our poet genius, also including other artists, even our very own, "Cathy Cowett." For those who never seen it, click below and check it out.

Just wondering which Corfidian, saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert the most?

It's certainly not me, I saw him only twice.

I read the other day, someone saw 30, GL concerts Live. That's amazing. Can't remember who it was. Maybe he will post it...~Jesse~

I have seen him twice. Once in Peoria about 15 years ago. Then again last Saturday in Aurora, Illinois.

I bet Jenney Rivard is the one who has seen him most. For a few years, before his illness, a bunch of us saw him about 20 times, in just a couple of years. Val Magee has also been to more than a few concerts.
I used to keep a running count, but damned if I know where I kept it! I was well up over the 20 mark.

Twenty plus, that's a pretty impressive number.

Jesse, what an awesome photo. Where and when was it taken?

I have seen him only once, I'm sorry to say. However, I cannot recall, at least in the past 10-15 years, that he has ever came to my neck of the woods. Now that I've found you guys, I doubt I'll ever have to miss another GL concert that is with in 200 miles from me.

P.S. I am also at the far end of the younger generation of Lightfoot fans, was born in the 60's, a child in the 70's, and a young adult in the 80's.

Come November 20 I will have seen Gord 41 times.
I know each date and intend adding details on my web site together with the relevant setlists where known.
I am pretty certain that this total will be soundly surpassed by Lynne Ackerman ,but unfortunately as far as I know she is still in a Toronto Hospital in a coma so is unable to reply herself

I actually tried counting the other day - I may have missed a few, but it's somewhere around 30.

I've never attempted to count how many since 1975...each time he was at Massey-somtimes just once but sometimes 2 or 3 times in a concert series...plus Hamilton Place, Scarborough Town Centre, Roy Thompson Hall, Hamilton again, Pennsylvania, Mariposa, Orillia Opera House, Peterborough, New Jersey, Florida..hmmm....looking at the Tour page at www.lightfoot.ca it looks like I'm up around 45 - 48 shows...including the 4 coming up in November....
not enuf tho!
lol

Best count: 27 shows since Northrup Minneapolis '82. 6 states, 2 countries including the Massey shows in 2001 (live tracks on Harmony).. was at the recent Minneapolis show also and hope it's not the last..

also, ..but.. and quite ironically, I was in a bar the other night and a guy next to me (who I did not know; who was reading a book) struck up a conversation with me, and proceeded to show me a ticket stub, which he had just recently discovered in this book he had been reading (which he had just aquired apparently, at a used book store nearby; and who was now using this ticket stub as a book mark etc.; the ticket stub? the Lightfoot show from Northrup '82; my very first one. I didn't explain this to him, but I thanked him all the same, and headed down the road, a little astounded.. The uncanny thing is that the introduction and explanation of the book mark, were the entirety of the interaction.. with this stranger.. so.. mighty funny and strange, indeed.. this thing life.. and how the time does fly..

Peoria fan, same as me.

Gitchigumee the photo I found on Googles, Val Magee could probably tell you, where this photo was taken.

John Fowles, it's amazing, I did not know you saw him that much.

Moosedog also, when I saw your photo the other day, with Mr. Lightfoot, you looked so young , I thought that must have been your first concert.

Charlene I kind a knew that you saw him often.

RJ, 27 that's great. All good Corfidians, Lightheads.

And I thought I was the only one fan he had...{lol}

First saw him in October of 1973 at John Carroll University in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.

Over 35 concerts I have attended... Front Row Theatre (now torn down) in Cleveland, Palace Theatre in Cleveland....Blossom Music Center (outside)south of Cleveland...Massey Hall about 7 or eight times...Erie PA., Nashville, TN, Toledo Ohio, Columbus, Ohio, Hamilton Ont....

All good shows...All good memories...

My meager offering : 5.

However, I may be able to compete in the earliest year category. Wes mentioned 1973, and I'm certain I can match that one. Unfortunately, Wayne Francis' site only goes back to 1974, which was the last time he appeared in Flagstaff, Az.("Sundown" had just been released), and I know I was at that one, and it was the second time I saw him at that venue.

Ok, rather than review my lecture for my next class, I couldn't resist figuring this out! I have no idea what I am going to do with the class in ten minutes, but this was more fun!
Thanks to Waynes web site which helped my memory!

I counted 73 concerts that I went to so far. I started in either 1971 or 1972, and went to at least one a year except for the times he wasn't touring. Prior to the internet, it was almost impossible to find out where he was going to be, except my reading the paper every Sunday. I have the good fortune to live in New England where he always seemed to come around to, and things aren't that far apart. Even so, I missed a lot that I would have gone to had I known.

Add to the 73, I currently have tickets for the next 4 Massey Hall shows, and one more in 2007. I honestly thought I was closer to the 100 mark than I am, but maybe I'll get there yet!

Ya know what I wish - that I was starting the "Lightfoot" journey all over again.....and that so many of you would be a part of it with me from the beginning like you have been for the last several years....

I just finished my count: 31. I know because each set list is posted on Wayne Francis' Lightfoot.ca website dating back to 1979- Minneapolis (Northrop Auditorium)

Most of them have been in the Twin Cities but they also include:

Superior, WI - 1995
Sault St. Marie, MI - 1998 (2)
Duluth, MN - 2000 and 2002
Bayfield, WI - 1999 (2)
Toronto - 2001 (3)
Harris, MI- 2006
Aurora, IL - 2005 (2)

I am still excited walking into the theatre and seeing the band set-up.

Won't get to Toronto and look forward to the 2007 Tour Schedule for summer/fall 2007.

That is a lovely and heartwarming statement, Char. Good thing is, the journey is not over yet, and there is much left to experience.

Quite so Jen in fact I now know that I missed at least 3 more London concerts that I could have and would have gone to.

A little while ago I typed up memo to myself listing all the concerts I had been to and am sure I made the total 37 as of now, Luckily I mislaid that memo so I had to start from scratch and was amazed to find that in fact I have already seen Gord 41 times.
I have now amended my short listing of "old setlists" at:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/oldsetlists.htm
and included a link thereon to a listing of the 41 concerts

Just short of a dozen and all in recent years. I've been a big fan since 1970 or so but as I've said before, LOL, I was pretty poor in the 'good old days' and I spent most, if not all, of my disposable income on the party train. Money is not really an obstacle at this point (53) in my life. Time and work are my only pitfalls now, LOL.

Well Jesse,I know you and everyone here has me topped! Just once four years ago. Tuesday, 8/6/2002 at Dodge theatre here in Phoenix.

Don't worry folks,I'm not going into "that" story again. :D LOL!

If I count watching my Live In Reno DVD 4 times and having seen his SNL & Midnight Special clips,I could say I've seen him 6 times? :D LOL!
