While Pony Man does remind me of my childhood,(I was 2 & 1/2 when that came out),any of Gord's albums from 1970 to 1976 always takes me back to my earliest days in my hometown in Pennsylvania. The music,like those times,is simple and easy and fairly uncompicated,just like being a little kid was. When Gord sings about the forests or the country,the mountains,the great lakes or even just the rain,it evokes pictures in my mind from those years that semm like mere months ago. After my family headed west in Jan. of 1977,life just wasn't like it was before. We lived in San Diego and 3 years later moved to Phoenix. Now that I've caught up on all of GL's works,I see that his music after Summertime Dream was also no longer simple folk-rock-country fair. Just lie my family went to a new place,he went to a new musical direction. It's been me,later!

I think The Circle is Small because shortly after that came out I found out I was married to a cheatin' man. But, when my 2nd husband died I played Song for a Winter's Night, I'l do anything and of IYCRMM (because it was my favorite at the time). Gord has gotten me through so much bad and Good!

Canary Yellow Canoe makes me cry each time I hear it. Just tugs on my heart strings. Just like the movie ET did.

Well, for me it's three songs in this order: Saturday Clothes, IYCRMM, and Shadows. Saturday Clothes reminds me of the time my girlfriend and I lived together and had saturday night poker night every week. Everybody smoked cigarettes and drank beer and wine and whiskey and we always had a really great time. Only my relationship with her was disintegrating at the time and it was rather uncomfortable some game nights. But I always remember those days fondly. When we finally broke up, IYCRMM was the song that really got me because it was exactly how i felt. We'd gone out for a long time, been engaged and things slowly began to fall apart. Then after being apart for awhile, Shadows was the song that really best described our situation, with me calling her and her calling me and getting together again because the world outside was just too cold. We finally split for good though and that was about three years ago. I really only recently heard Shadows, but it immediately made me think of her. If you want to see her, her website is... no just kidding. That wouldn't be right.

Well, That Same Old Obsession does it for me, not because I've experienced it myself, but because I think it's a pretty good example of what Gord was going through at the time. Looking At The Rain is another one that gets to me.
