But can you play that crappy guitar???
If I could play a Lightfoot tune that was even remotely recognizable I'd be as giddy as a school girl! So as I watch this video I can't help but feel a twinge of envy now and then. Of course I am assuming that they sound as good as they look!
But that's not the worse of it, as I won't be able to make Massey this year as I had previously hoped! So if you can make it, GO! axe in hand or not.

thx for holding back some pics, char - a great way to put names to faces is to attend Massey, hope to see all again (and newcomers) this year at length or even briefly - if so, travel safe
dedicated and meticulous work, tj - when doing clips for public viewing (which i try avoid) i find half the aggravation comes in waiting for audio, video, photo waivers...frustrating but understandable - thanks for posting pics from tj setup, john - especially love the harvest table and windowpanes, glorious house for retirement and a great way to keep the mind and hands busy
btw, i see you ended the vid with the char fave ’tongue flossing’ pic, lol - there are many better out there, that does not do you justice but GL looks fine - i am hunting for my fave
cu you all (or some) soon

Re: We are the Rainy Day People
ps) moreso than even their respective talents ie. ron, derek, mel, ed, kenyon, matt, (superb dobro colouring added), etc, etc, it is the love that each plucks or strums or sings with that is so wonderful...and they know ALL the words to even thr most obscure GL tunes...myself, am lucky to get thru Alberta Bound chorus without aid of a printout. sad

Well Brink I meant it as a compliment. There are some young looking granny's also down here. I think the days of Granny's being only little old ladies are no more. lol
Speaking of snow it is starting to snow now. They are forecasting another storm, about 20 cm's. The old snow was practically all gone. But I love it this time of year. I think this one comes from cousin podunklander tho...

ummmmmmmmmmm I guess I really don't play all too well but a good guitar does make a difference. I can play a few Lightfoot songs but my playing is very raw. As is my singing which...well let's put it this way...sometimes I can't even talk after a night of wall-shaking snoring!
I would get much more enjoyment from having the opportunity to listen to others! And I hope I do have that opportunity, and I'm sorry to know that you won't be able to be there. For those of us who can't - how nice that others share their memories in posts such as these!

Ya know I had mentioned to my wife that I met a bunch of nice people in Hamilton and now she and our daughter might be able to share my pleasure at Massey 2008. But I'm not sure I remember this "appleseed" character. What have you done with jj ?

hey JJ - might be sending some your way. We had 7" (i.e., of snow ) Monday, but I think it went out to sea. Will try again this weekend. My cousin called today, all excited it was snowing in Georgia. I believe that's the same system we're expecting here in Connecticut on Friday.
I still haven't decided whether or not to go to Massey. I really wanted to have my son come with me, but his finals are the following week.

Well like they say "be careful what you wish for". Because when I step off the plane and shout "I'm Back !" I'll expect a warm reception, LOL. (is it warm up there in May ?) Anyway we should all make it this time.

Re: We are the Rainy Day People
It gives me great pleasure to know that you enjoyed this interpretation of "Rainy Day People". The idea for the song came from Tom Perry of TomCat Productions who is now a member of the Lightfoot Tirbute Producers Team I have assembled to tackle Gordon Lightfoot's entire repertoire over the next 18 months or so. Tom P. had seen the version of Second Cup of Coffee I produced and uploaded in December 2006:

Re: We are the Rainy Day People
I agree for that big smile Char, great video jj...
Lisa Brokop was once on Front Page Challenge, and it was the late Pierre Berton who told her she sings with a phony tennessee accent. She gaved him a surprise look.
I got a VHS tape of a Canada Day celebration where she does a snippet of "If You Could Read My Mind."
