A couple of days ago, I went to my best friend’s 50th birthday party. (I really can’t believe we’re hitting our half-centuries. No wrinkles, grey hairs or middle age spread yet, thank goodness – though probably more to do with lucky genes and the portrait in the attic – not to mention exorbitant amounts of time and money spent on blonde highlights and mountain bikes.)

For her present, her husband had written her a song; a love song, dedicated to her and how much she meant to him.

How she made his life worthwhile. Literally –worth living. How she was the other half,
making up the whole.

It wasn’t trite or embarrassing – just very simple, very beautiful.

Anyway, to return to my normal, flippant self, it reminded me of the rumour that GL wrote a certain ‘beautiful’ song for Char. Hmmm!??

I know GL wrote Always On The Bright Side for me (Yeah! Sure! ) and I’d love a man to ask - “How did it feel when I looked through your soul?”, even as a farewell, afterwards.

So, which song do you know Gordon Lightfoot wrote for you?

I know he wrote Inspiration Lady for me. I can tell. He used his "pet" names for me. "She" and "Her". At least those were the words in that restraining order.....

Here we go,trying to pick 1 song again!

Sorry but I'm with Brink, all of 'em except a choice few.

I can't just choose one! It's impossible. Were I a kid right now,I'd say,"The Pony Man" though. Later!
