ok, we need EMP to put together something like Blue Rodeo has done here...a cool DVD compilation of vintage BR performaces is now available as afollows:

-Blue Rodeo's Original Five band members (+ a special guest) play:

-Rarities (Performances)
Drive into the history of the band with 12 archival performances from 1987 all the way up to the summer of 2004. Listed next to the songs are the date and place of the performances.

while I'm excited about getting this and seeing one of my fave tunes ever performed on that Conan show I missed, this post is actually a prompt to ask what would a Gord DVD wish list look like????

I will give you an example...for starters I guess we could have a reunion perforamce of a few live songs by Gord, Shea and Stockfish (but that won't happen... actually, was Bruce Langhorne GL's first guitarist?)

but for live performace rarities i'd put in some stuff I've been able to see but not necessarily possess, or possess in good quality (the year's are at Wayne's site):

- For Lovin' me (Music Scene 72?)
- Sundown (Midnight Special 74?)
- Prove My Love (KTLA yr?)
- East of Midnight (acoutic, toronto yr?)
- Knotty Pine (Ian and Sylvia yr?)
- Canadian Railroad Trilogy (Front Page Challenge yr?)

Would you please bring me a compilation of GL's Massey Hall performances, including the first time ever he did "CRT" there. I'd also like a bonus DVD of his last (my first) MH show....the ENTIRE show, please.

Oh yeah, I'd ALSO like that Soundstage vid that nobody has...with the audio and video all cleaned up and on DVD.

Actually, I think that David Rea was Gl's first (or very early) guitarist. DR was also guitarist for Ian and Sylvia for a swhile. Would I be wrong in assuming that David Rea is Canadian?

lol, agh, i should have known the ladies would get way off track, i meant performances that have ALREADY been broadcast on TV but in the days before VCRs or in the days of VCRs but we were too busy watching to tape!

i even gave examples of the BR layout, my instructions must be like John's pic posting instructions (both flawless, lol!)

i guess it's like a poll of what is the best performance of each of his live performed-on-TV tunes, with that said I'd include "On The TV" off of the PBS Sounstage 1979

and you're right, that was a GREAT gift last year but this year it's like Santa is crapping on me (indirectly! )

yeah, right on, bjb if you guys remember in the MMM video, Gord pointed Cuddy out in the studio crowd at one point between songs but the camera couldnt' find him, so yeah, not off topic at all...lsh, no need to be sorry but feel free to add your 2 cents to the list and not let me thread die

btw, me and some old Blue Rodeo friends always thought that Jim had that chiselled look, just like Woody from Toy Story, lol

char mentioned that Cuddy still wears those yolk-styled cowboy shirts so i had to add it to Woody's wardrobe, lol

(i used to have lots of fun the that great BR site but i got it bad (the wanderlust, lol) for GL fans and ended up over here a while back, lol... i also got turned off by their adding horns to the BR mix, just like my getting turned off GL when i heard sax, etc way back when) ok, now i'm the one who should be apoligizing for being off topic, lsh!

Eliz, hold on a minute, yes i started hearing GL in the mid 60's (thanks to my family's musical tastes) but was only old enough to start truly listening in the 70's and didn't see him until the 80's...but there are a handful of folk here and at the NG who saw him live in the 60's i only heard about Rea and especially Longhorne via Burchill (well, other than my readings at Wayne's site, of course)
