I came across an old (1975)article where, among other things, he mentions that if he couldn't write any more, he'd retire (he could afford to at that point), and that his idea of retirement was doing about 25 concerts a year. He has said in much more recent articles (2000) that he's not thinking of retiring as long as there's an incentive (new album, touring, etc.)
Wishful thinking, maybe, but it does suggest he's not gonna hang it up until and unless he absolutely physically has to. Let's hope (for his own health, and for his family) that he can rebuild most if not all of what fitness he had. Gotta say every time I'm at the gym, wondering why in hell I'm trudging on the treadmill or lifting a weight, I think about Gord (pre-illness) working out regularly and figure if he can do it so can I.
