I came across an old (1975)article where, among other things, he mentions that if he couldn't write any more, he'd retire (he could afford to at that point), and that his idea of retirement was doing about 25 concerts a year. He has said in much more recent articles (2000) that he's not thinking of retiring as long as there's an incentive (new album, touring, etc.)

Wishful thinking, maybe, but it does suggest he's not gonna hang it up until and unless he absolutely physically has to. Let's hope (for his own health, and for his family) that he can rebuild most if not all of what fitness he had. Gotta say every time I'm at the gym, wondering why in hell I'm trudging on the treadmill or lifting a weight, I think about Gord (pre-illness) working out regularly and figure if he can do it so can I.

Bravo!

Good incentive.
I hope the article and his recent comments become reality. Let's not give up on our Gord, guys. Ya know even if he decides to stay in Canada to do concerts after this I'd be game to travel to them. How about you Annie?

I still have my Massey Hall tickets - just waiting for a new date.

Gwen,
I agree. If Gord did decide to resume touring only in Canada, I would be willing to travel as well. (Though I'm still holding out hope of seeing him again in DE or PA.) We'll have to keep our fingers crossed.

I think if Gord decided only to tour in canada it would be a great excuse to go back there. I loved it when I was there in the fall, and I have wanted to go to Massey Hall for one of his concerts. I'd love it though if he came back to Denver or Grand Junction.

really when you listen to his 'waiting for you' he puts a lot into perspective regarding this retirement point and that's his objective...I was reading the article about his release from the hospital and he had determination, incredible determination. that's just what we expect from him and ya know what? we are all his fans because that is a lot of who we are too. very similar.

I am keeping Gord and his recovery in my prayers. I agree that if he would only tour in Canada I would travel to see him. It encourages me though that despite everything Gordon has not shown signs of giving up yet. Hope is still alive.
