I listened to Mother Of A Miner's Child three times on the way home from work tonight. Boy, talk about a hidden gem. I don't understand how a song like that didn't make it on the charts.

I have been reading this thread with much interest over the past few days. Phew!! I find it hard to understand how such a simple question about a beautiful little book, which I have had in my possession since 1977/78. Could create such a polemic.
Perhaps Susan should have included "The answer is not easy, for souls are not reborn."

POLEMIC is a great word and an apt description of this thread. However I searched I could not find the word in any GL tunes. Perhaps when he's writing again we could suggest he use it in a song, but it's kind of hard to rhyme. Just kidding.

Finding a rhyme for polemic, nice try. Not much worse than a rhyme I heard in a Frank Sinatra song, The lyricist had rhymed splendour with window (winder). I cannot recall the title of the song, but one line went "my troubles came in bunches, I kept rolling with the punches".
I have been trying to write a lyric rhyming mullet with gullet, without it sounding stupid. One of my favourite Lightfoot lines is "Way up among the pines, In some hidden valley. Where the twirlin' river twines".

I have a copy of this book but not in braille.It was published in 1977 and includes selected lyrics to his songs. It seems to me that this is not an authorized use of his lyrics. In other words someone else selected the lyrics and printed this book and probably received any royalties it made, not Gord. It is a nice little book though.

I feel sure that at some juncture in this books life, either in print or at the editorial stage, Gordon received something for the use of his work.
In my book it clearly states "Lyrics reprinted with permission from Warner Bros. Music, Los Angeles,Ca." Also every song from which a lyric is taken is aknowledged ie.
"All you need is time," from the song 'Cold on the Shoulder', (C) 1974 Moose Music." Gordon must have received a royalty. However I am happy to be shown I am wrong.
