you took a speed reading course? LOL

I'm irrevocable as far as reading fast enough is concerned. I'm a slow reader by nature, it's just the way I am and always was!

Shadows is one of his best no question. If you already have Summer Side of Life I definitley recommend Shadows

I said in another topic of new collector Sheryl's that when I had time I would search for another old topic regarding the first 5 United Artists albums and their acquisition

OK It took an inordinate amount of searching that proved fruitless until I remembered that I had created a detailed display illustrating the various ways to acquire those albums for then new collector Shazia so I am now resurrecting the topic for Sheryl's benefit

My own collection has expanded from the 3 CD's I owned when I first logged onto corfid about 2 months ago. I now own...

- Greatest Hits
- Gords Gold
- Don Q
- Dream Street Rose
- Cold on the Shoulder
- Sundown
- UA Collection (2-disc set)

I'd like to get the Songbook set next but maybe I'll just wait to put that on my x-mas list.

So many choices.

Yes, you're lucky indeed JJ; but at the same time I dread the day I buy the last CD to complete my collection. I'm afraid it would be like finishing a good book that I don't want to end. If and when that happens, I guess I will just have to start from the beginning again

But tell me, what would you get next if you were me?? :D

Yes Jennifer I do know what you mean but, having that prize possesion, of owning them all, is a wonderful feeling.

I can listen to 1969 Lightfoot or 2004, whenever I feel like it. Plus everytime I go to my fav music store, I always go check the Lightfoot Cd's. Sometimes there may be a new one, from the UK or somewhere's else.

Not new to the sense of new songs, but best of, Classic Lightfoot recordings. I do have all the songs but buy them anyway to add to the collection.

And then there's always good great bootlegs roaming around. If your lucky enough to get those. They make you feel like you bought a new Lightfoot concert CD. It's recorded live, Gord may tell a story before introducing the next track. Always interesting.

Then there's the DVD's, the VHS, old interview, etc. And other artists covering his material. It never ends.

Look at Elvis Presley's fan, there still things to buy about him, 29 years after he's gone.

My suggestion to you if you want the older ones, get "Sunday Concert Plus", or "Back Here On Earth"

"Sunday Concert Plus" comes from the UK {GERMANY} if Im not mistaken, it is a little more expensive, but you get The plus. A Bob Dylan track, "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues." Gord 's own "Spin Spin", Movin, a real 60's song, and I'll Be Alright.

Enjoy Jennifer.. Cheers...Jesse.

J-J Jennifer already has the US 2-CD set which includes BHOE but not the essential and breathtaking live Sunday Concert, but you are correct it is well worth paying the extra for the German "Plus" import. you get not one but two versions of "Movin" from CNR(ailways) promo film, Neither of which are likely to feature in anybody's favourite GL recordings list; his interesting cover of Dylans Tom Thumb's Blues; a different take of the great I'll Be Allright that I don't think I have ever worked out how it differs from the issued The way I Feel album version but most importantly probably the better of the two versions of the song that got me hooked in 1965/66 the sadly neglected and superb "Spin Spin" it is so good that my wife used to use the lines
"In the web of wild desire
And I cannot control the fire"
as her signature
and I proposed to call my planned commercial web design company:-
"Spin Spin Web Designs" cool eh?
Of course amongst the concert songs is the otherwise unobtainable and fantastic "Apology"

Jennifer, I highly reccomend the next album you purchase be Summer Side Of Life. When I first bought it I knew of only two tracks-SSOL and Cotton Jenny. It has quickly become one of my most treasured albums with such songs as Miguel, Talking In Your Sleep, and one of my all-time fav's Cabaret. You won't be dissappointed!

Ha ha ha! Cute hedgehog...

JJ - no need to apologize... Cheers back at ya!

Sunday Concert sure sounds nice, especially when John so temptingly describes it as essential and breathtaking. Summer Side of Life is on my "to get" list for sure too.

Thanks for all these great suggestions!
