Just came from their website and wrote down the names. Here they are:
Jackson Browne:Right On!
The Dells:Very Cool
George Harrison:FINALLY!
Prince:Let's Go Crazy!
Bob Seger:Rock and Roll never forgets!
Traffic:Interesting.<^> (not sure which way to think on that one.)
ZZ Top:Huh? Whatever.
The people producing the show go on to say that this years show should be "really exciting with highly anticipated moments."
I would hope so since last years show really could've been better. I found it ludicrous that the R. Bros had to wait so long before being inducted, when it should have been done around 1989. They almost waited too long. Being on just before all of those '80s acts made them look terrbly out of place where they should have felt at home. Other than that, they really need to induct at least 7 or 8 acts a years in my opinion. ...and of course induct You-know-who! The show will be on in March on VH1! Been me,later!

I'll second that. ZZ Top is one of the few rock groups I still listen to.
I saw them in Galveston, Texas, back in 1977. They played on the deck of the Belanese (sp?) restaruant, which sat on stilts about 500 yards from shore. The crowd sat onshore, in front of the ocean wall, a massive concrete structure between the beach and the boardwalk. It was like a natural amphitheater. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, George Harrison, ZZ, and Traffic have been favs of mine for years and I am really glad there are being inducted, too bad they waited until Harrison was dead. I hope they wise up and get Grod in there before he isn't around to know it.
I agree that Prince (eww)could have been forgotten and someone else (like Gord) could have been picked.

an artist of eligible 25 years after their first recording.
harrison's all things must pass came out in 1970, so they didn't waste any time with george.
no excuse for gord considering he was eligible since 1991

So none of his time with the Beatles would count? So he could be inducted with the Beatles then have to wait until 25 has passed for his single recording career? It seems odd since he had written songs individually when he was with the Beatles that the R&R HOF wouldn't consider that. Oh, well, but that doesn't make it right with Gord.

the beatles got put in in 1987 but harrison as a "solo" artist wasn't born until 1970 so that's why its taken so long

Brink,I'm not attempting in any sense to convert you to a Prince fan but I have always known since the R & R Hall Of Fame came out in 1986,that Prince would one day be inducted. I didn't think it would be this soon,of course. I agree there's a vast ocean of artists who should be in by now but for what ever reason,'80s acts are being taken 1st before their "elders". The people they most likely were influenced by.
In Prince's case,he was a real stand-out act almost from the start. He went to WB and basically said what "he" wanted to the label exec's and not the other way around. He did Disco, yes, but in '79 you almost had to. Having seen his pre-top 40 videos like Contrversy,Dirty Mind & Uptown and then what he emerged with on the LP 1999 and then of course the deal-sealer "Purple Rain",it was easy to see he'd be a long lasting artist. To each his own though.
As for my comment on ZZ Top,I know they're good rockers but I was a little put off by them in '86 with their song and video,"Velcro Fly". A song about velcro "zippers"? A Paula Abdul taught dance video? Ick!
More so though is back to the fact that there were other acts that truly should have been inducted. I wont go into that now. Been me,later!

At Billboard.Com on the cover page, they mention who's doing the presenting for each artist.
Springsteen is "inducting" J. Browne
Outkast & Alicia Keys:Prince
Dave Matthews:Traffic
Keith Richards:ZZ Top
Tom Petty & Jeff Lynne:George H.
Bob Seger:It doesn't say but in a seperate article,I read that his choice for the task would be Don Henley of The Eagles. Later!

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Website. Just go to any search engine, type that in and it takes you right to it. even add the phrase 2004 inductees if you think it helps (and it does.) The 2nd list of the presenters was on Billboard.com's front page (meaning the front page would be the same on the regular magazine.) There you have it! Later!

AWESOME Show last night!!!!!! 3 hours and well worth it! I'll get right to it!
Prince opened the show with "Let's Go Crazy" which segued into "Sign O' The Times" and then he launched into "Kiss". Inducted by Alicia Keyes & Outkast.
Traffic was inducted by Dave Matthews and at the same time they showed them playing,"Mr. Fantasy" at the pre-taped event.
The Dells (I believe) were next and samg Oh What A Night" and were inducted by Robert Townsend (the comedian/filmaker & star of "The Parent Hood".) He was chosen bacuse his film "The 5 Heartbeats" was really about The Dells. The group,by the way,has been together for 50 years with the exact same line-up!
Next was Jackson Browne inducted by "The Boss". Jackson sang "The Pretender" & Running On Empty.
Then Bob Seger was inducted by Kid Rock (because they're both from Detroit.) Seger (age 58) sang "Old Time Rock & Roll" & "Turn The Page".
"K. Rock" said of Seger,"He's the most under-appreciated singer & songwriter in the business and (to paraphrase) should have been in th Hall of Fame 10 years ago!" "He's also paid more dues than 1/2 the artists on today's charts!" (First thing he's ever said that I agree with! )
ZZ Top (for whatever reason) were inducted By Keith Richards. (Another deep serious moment from him ) ZZ Top did "La Grange" & "Tush".
Lastly,(but certainly not least) George Harrison was inducted by Tom Petty and also Jeff Lynne. Joined by Harrison's son they played "Handle With Care" by their group The Traveling Wilburys. Then they got into,"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Prince playing a fantastic guitar solo that vitually matched the original!
The closing all-star number was Traffic's,"Feelin' Alright!" The best Hall Of Fame show since 1999,as far as I'm concerened! Gordon's turn next year!!! > It shouldn't even be a question! Later!

Next years choices! Gordon (of course),The Grass Roots,Procol Harum,The Moody Blues,KISS and The Doobie Brothers. These are my picks of course.
Can anyone think of some females who could be nominated or inducted, none are coming to mind offhand except Heart. Much appreciative! Aurevoir!

Cool about the Moodies. John Lodge is a very good friend of mine. Justin sent me a gold album from "Days of Future Passed". They deserve it!

They sure do man! Y'know, while some people might find it an impossible idea at the moment, there's '90s acts & present, that will one day be in as well.
No question that Mariah Carey will be inducted in 2015,even if she never has another hit, what she did for 12 consecutive years, especially as a woman, will never be matched. She has more weeks at the top of the chart than The Beatles! Not to mention 15 #1 hits and all but 5 of her singles hitting the top 5! (She's never peaked between #6 thru #10!)
I see TLC getting in 2 years after that. Like it or not,Sean "P-Diddy" Combs will be also as well as Tupac and (maybe) Notorious B.I.G.
On the lighter side will be Boyz 2 Men,Whitney,Jewel,Sheryl Crow & Alanis Morrisette.
Heavier side,Nirvana,Pearl Jam,Red Hot Chili Peppers (I'd say between 2010-20) and (hoo, boy!) Kid Rock & Eminem!
I know, scary thoughts indeed on some of those but they have made the most noise and lived up to their hype. (I'd say I wouldn't watch but I'd be lying! ) Aurvoir!
