To coincide with the rollout in recent weeks of Gibson's 2016 line acoustic guitars, we felt it would be fitting to showcase some great albums that feature Gibson acoustics on their covers. I would assume that once someone "makes it" and have a bundle of cash they will arm themselves high quality guitars, I have not "made it" but I have 3 high end guitars, 1 Gibson, 1 Martin and 1 Taylor. I don't have a bundle of cash. But an interesting item.

Yes, I'm looking to upgrade from my mid-range Yamaha ... was looking at Taylor, any tips on getting a good acoustic?

If you're not ready to spend the money on a Martin or a Taylor, look at Takamine or Alvarez. They are both good quality instruments. I would choose Takamine over Alvarez. Many professionals are using Takamine, such as the Eagles.
