Re: Saturday July 19th Sun Center
If you watch the video on the website it looks like it's a brand-new venue. 1500 chairs on the lawn! Seems Gord will be the 5th act to appear at the place. So we may be the first corfidian net-people to see the joint! Yay!!

Re: Saturday July 19th Sun Center
I'll assume for now that no one took pictures because 1500 chairs on a lawn is not so photogenic, lol. And they've never played here before because the venue opened in June 2014. Oh well I better get rolling, more later.

RICK: ..and now for something completely different, the new outdoor Sun Theater, off I 95 southwest of Philadelphia, PA. The 'doors' are open, the crowd's coming in and it looks like good weather.

The Sun Center is a wonderful venue - I can't say enough about it. We had a gorgeous night weather-wise. After seeing Gord indoors so many times, it was a pleasure to see him outside with the breeze blowing his hair back. He was in great spirits as was the band. There were a lot of smiles back and forth among them. The crowd was super enthusiastic too - it was as if there was a magical vibe around the whole place - that's the only way I can describe it. At one point in the show a fan yelled out "You still got it!" and Gord said "I hope so, I hope so!"
The high points, song-wise imo were Drifters and Now and Then. Both sounded great. I noticed Carter stood for three or four songs. During the intros, Gord mentioned that Barry is actually American and from Philadelphia. That got some cheers.

Re: ASTON PA-July 19,2014
thanks for the report and setlist.. I saw Bills' pic with you last night! Sounds like quite an evening for everyone! I'm glad the weather was good too!
Barry is originally from PA/U.S. and came to TO with his dad in 1975 who ran Quality Records from 1975-1985.. http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.c...cords-ltd-emc/

Re: ASTON PA-July 19,2014
RICK: Packing up to head South to Richmond, VA. About half way thru the second set, the wind changed direction and picked up a bit. Then just before our last song, the Canadian Railroad Trilogy, it started to rain on the crowd - nobody moved - and they all stayed for our encore, Rainy Day People. What a great crowd! Thank You!

Re: ASTON PA-July 19,2014
Thanks, Char. Yes, Gord mentioned something about Barry's father being in the music business and the family moving.
I like the pics Bill. Thanks for posting. Wish we had another one on the calendar. It will be hard to top this one tho!

Yes well Gwen certainly got around on her trip over this side of the country (revisiting her home state and all).
And unless I am mistaken it looks like when it got dark you were joined by a curious moonbeam (on your right Bill) am I correct??
I am sorry we missed you and this concert

I was curious about the comment re: Barry. So, does he have American or dual citizenship?

Thanks...I am a little reluctant to take pictures while they're playing since it distracts me from why I'm there, lol. There was a lady in the front row using her phone to video them and she actually stood up and walked up to the barrier to get a close up. No big deal but again it was distracting to Gord as well, although he only smiled. I'm sure he's happy that people still want to get a picture at his age.

That's a good question about Barry. Char will probably know??
Your pics really are great Bill. And you remember to take them, which is important too Btw, as john pointed out, curiousmoonbeam was in attendance. She brought three Gord biographies/books for me to borrow - very thoughtful of her.

Re: ASTON PA-July 19,2014
^ Thanks, Char - one little correction - I'm "Gail" (Schwartz) from Phila., PA. We brought our friend, Andy, to the concert with us. It was her first time seeing Gordon, but we figured she'd like him (considering we all like Peter, Paul, & Mary, & James Taylor, among others - our musical tastes are VERY similar), and she was VERY impressed with him in the concert, and as a person! Her pics are not ready yet - I am really looking forward to seeing them & adding them to ours. It's a privilege to introduce friends to the pleasures of Gordon & his music. Our seats were slightly over to the left of center - 5th row, which worked out very well. Usually we try to get dead center seats. The only problem with that, is that our view of Barry is blocked. This time no problem. I love the whole band, but I confess that I have a soft spot for Barry. I smiled @ him. I think he saw us in the audience, and I think he smiled back to us! I'm the nutty fan who always goes nuts when Gord sings "Sea of Tranquility," so if anyone heard someone reacting to that, it was probably me. I think Carter has fit into the band so well, and I'm glad he gets his chance to shine in his solos.
Oh, one more lovely tidbit I must share with you. About three years ago, I found a big book in our elementary school's reading room. It was called The Big Fitz, & it was about the Edmund Fitzgerald. I asked the reading teacher if she had a copy to share, so I could give it to Gordon. Well, not only did she let me have that copy, she let me have 2 copies of it. So I gave one to Gordon @ a concert about 3 years ago, explaining the situation behind it. I kept the other copy as a keepsake, and the whole band autographed it. When we got to talk to Gordon after the Saturday night show, he thanked me profusely for that book! He thought it was an amazing conversation piece, and, apparently was very touched by it. Another reason to adore this humble, talented man!
