Re: Toronto Mayor and Gordon Lightfoot
I can't remember the dates but someone posted he was saying that at a couple of concerts in the last tour of the season...lol
I'm pretty sure a lot of people at those shows didn't know what he was talking about...

I was at the concert the day after the crack stuff hit the TV news here in CT., and Gordon didn't mention it at that concert, but at his 2nd concert a few days later he did. I'm pretty sure that most of the audience got it as it was all over the TV news for a few days by then. For some reason, we get a lot of info about the Toronto Mayor from the TV news in New England.

Re: Toronto Mayor and Gordon Lightfoot
He did mention it at the Wilmington, DE concert, but because I hadn't heard anything about the Toronto Mayor, it went right over my head. I thought it was a strange thing to say but it got a lot of laughs.

That's what I figured for quite a few folks who didn't catch the "international" news in their town or didn't pay attention if it was on..

Re: Toronto Mayor and Gordon Lightfoot
And I didn't catch the news/know what was going on unlike others in the audience.
Honestly, it crossed my mind that Gord was talking about some crack activity he possibly witnessed on the streets of Wilmington, lol, which may or may not be a total surprise. I hoped that wasn't the case, because I want him to like it here and come back soon!!

Re: Toronto Mayor and Gordon Lightfoot
...same as it ever was!
I knew a man from Windsor
Who went to Detroit every night
And stateside of the tunnel
Customs agents gave him flight
He threw his stash in the river
And his bedroll on the ground
And when they finally got there
A sleeping man was all that they found
somebody even wrote a song about it!

Re: Toronto Mayor and Gordon Lightfoot
He said it in Charlottesville, and it seemed like lots of folks got the reference. The fellow sitting next to me was an ex-pat Canadian and he about fell out.
