Higganum CT.-Haddam-Killingworth Aud.-Nov.3-2013
To say that the Haddam/Killingworth Middle School auditorium is in the middle of nowhere is an understatement! I work one town away, and live only about 25 mins away and had no idea it was there! This is the fourth concert that the Lions Club has sponsored there, Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie and Richie Havens being the others. Nice people, and overall a nice auditorium. I don't believe they were ready for the crew and set though, in the introduction the announcer was commenting on the size of the tractor trailer truck and how they had to bring in extra power. I heard it was a tough set up, but it paid off in wonderful, crisp sound.
The theater was sold out, front rows went for around $150 and the other seats were $75-$55. Even though it was out in the country, people sure showed up on a Sunday night.
When Gord first came out, I thought he must have received the memo that Connecticut does not allow color to be worn after Labor Day, as he had his black velvet jacket on. In the second half he showed up in the red jacket though, so he must not have received it.
He started off with:
Sweet Guinevere
Cotton Jenney
Sea of Tranquility
All the Lovely Ladies
Never too Close
Wild Strawberries
Let it Ride
Spanish Moss
Shadows
Beautiful
If Children Had Wings
Watchman
Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Carefree Highway
Intermission
Now and Then
Ribbon of Darkness
Sundown
Hangdog Hotel Room
Don Quixote
I'd Rather Press On
A Painter Passing Through
Waiting For You
If You Could Read My Mind
Restless
Baby Get Back
Canadian Railroad Trilogy
Encore
Rainy Day People
Being the first night of the time change, I think everyone was a bit tired (caught my husband napping), but certainly receptive. We had a chance to visit with John from CT for a bit, and I got a poster signed that the Lions were selling in the lobby.
Very nice sound, and overall a nice evening.

Re: Killingworth CT
It was good to see & hear old friends such as Jenny and Gordon and the band again. I almost didn't make the opening as I used a GPS that is about 5 years old and hasn't been updated, well it turns out the Middle School is new and the GPS sent me to the old middle school property which is where the new High School is. I was lost and so were other people showing up there. Fortunately I had an idea where the road was that it might be on so I went to the nearest highway and asked some locals and the told me I was only about 4 miles away. I found it just 5 minutes before the concert start. Later, when talking with Rick Haynes, (the Bass player) it turns out he was driving with Gordon to the school and ended up at the wrong school also. As Jenny said, it was in the "middle of nowhere", at night, it seemed so anyway. Yes, a nice place and real nice concert, and even though I was seated in the wrong seat, due to a usher taking me to a wrong seat for the first half, I had good seats with excellent viewing both times. It was sold out but there were a few empty seats, so I guess some people never found the place. No cameras were allowed in this concert, as the paperwork stated boldly, so I never saw any cameras there during the show. Tough to get good pictures anyway during the shows. Another night to remember.
