Jim Thorpe,PA-Penn'sPeak-Oct.26-2013
OK who's going? I'll be the 60 year old nearly bald guy shouting "we love you Gord" at the oddest possible time. We are a little loud and unruly at times but sorry; no apologies this tour. Just kidding - maybe a little cold for my normal shirts but we'll see.
Hope to see "you" and a big crowd there tonight!
Peace be with you,
Bill

Re: Penn's Peak tonight?
We're going tonight! I've lost count how many times we've seen Gordon. @ least 30 times since 1977!

Re: Penn's Peak tonight?
We'll be there too!! The day is finally here. Looking forward to seeing Gord in a new venue (for me), checking out the town and seeing some friends from corfid.
Will try to post a setlist tomorrow, depending on what time we get home.

Re: Penn's Peak tonight?
It was! Off the top of my head, the songs he sang (I do wish he would do complete versions of EVERY song, but we're still just SO happy to see him again) - Sweet Guenevere, Cotton Jenny, Never too Close,Shadows, Spanish Moss, All the Lovely Ladies, Sea of Tranquility , Wild Strawberries (he got a big laugh for the "polka dot underwear line ), The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Hangdog Hotel Room, Carefree Highway, Beautiful, The Watchman's Gone, Let It Ride, Christian Island, Now & Then, I'd Rather Press On, Ribbon of Darkness (without the last 2 words - "over me"), 14 Karat Gold, If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, Baby Step Back, Waiting for You, Restless, Canadian Railroad Trilogy, Rainy Day People.
If I left anything out, please add to it. I was the crazy fan who kept calling out "Circle of Steel."
We will be around the Harrisburg area next weekend, so there is a chance that we'll try to get to see him again on November 2!

Re: Penn's Peak tonight?
Gord really switched it up last night at Penns Peak. There wasn't a song from the Shadows album until #8 which is a big change from last year. The crowd was rowdy and appreciative and Gord seemed to feed off it. He smiled a lot and was quite talkative. The Penns Peak venue is cool - it looks like a ski lodge. We sat far left of the stage and were elevated, so the seats were actually very good. Gord came on stage a little late, at 8:03 lol. I think paskatefan has most of the songs, but here's the setlist in order:
Set 1 - red jacket
Sweet Guinevere
Cotton Jenny
Sea of Tranquility
All the Lovely Ladies
Never Too Close
Wild Strawberries
Spanish Moss
Shadows
Beautiful
Let It Ride
The Watchman's Gone
The Wreck
Carefree Highway
Set 2 - changed into blue jacket
Now and Then (awesome)
Ribbon of Darkness
Sundown
Hangdog Hotel Room
14K Gold
I'd Rather Press On
APPT
Waiting for you
(Recited some rhyme about Sweet Betsy from the pike?? over my head but got laughs)
IYCRMM
Restless
(joke)
Baby Step Back
CRT
Rainy Day People - encore
Jim Thorpe is such a cute town. We met up with Bill and Lizanne there for dinner before the show. We had a great time as usual. Next show for me is in Wilmington on November 6- 15 minutes from my house

A few random shots from the Jim Thorpe Weekend. Good times start with Gordon Lightfoot, eh?

Ok, so this is interesting...is that Gord's video gear or the house? I see a bank of monitors, video switcher, and recorder. Audio gear on the left, video on the right.

Re: Jim Thorpe,PA-Penn'sPeak-Oct.26-2013
This was a great concert. There was lots of banter, hoots & hollars - even singing along, especially during "Carefree Highway". The hall was packed. My sister and I both felt this was the best Gord concert in years. The setlist was new to us and very appreciated (sorry no setlist!). Gord sang "Now and Then" - one of my absolute favorites. His voice was the strongest I've heard since his illness - I would be interested in other opinions on this as I hadn't seen Gord in almost 1-1/2 yrs. As you can see from Bill W's photo (great pictures!), the hall is all wood and very rustic, with folding chairs which lends itself to a more casual attitude. Just a great weekend with the Town of Jim Thorpe thrown in! Sorry we didn't get a chance to see our concert-goer acquaintences but as you know it was a madhouse at intermission and after the concert. We were up very early so we didn't stay after. We wound up having dinner at Molly Maguires (very good) since the Inn at Jim Thorpe was totally mobbed. Just a really fun time.
Best,
CM

Re: Jim Thorpe,PA-Penn'sPeak-Oct.26-2013
Hi FL! Thanks so much for this - it was great to see that others enjoyed this concert also! Now that I am working again I have almost no time to myself - I was so spoiled in retirement. I love the pics of all the venues from Rick and Carter and that Rick will throw in some background information on some of them. Wishing you all the very
Best, CM

Re: Jim Thorpe,PA-Penn'sPeak-Oct.26-2013
Yes, we did enjoy, CM. I love the theater pics/comments too. It makes the venues so much more real - so much better than just hearing a random city and state. I hope Rick and Carter continue to do that next year when the touring starts again. Here's hoping Gord will make it back to our area in 2014!
Thanks, Char for combining the two threads
