Default Melbourne's 5.3 quake (biggest since 1903)

An earthquake shook Melbourne and much of the state of Victoria around 9pm on Tuesday (12 hours ago). It was Melbourne's biggest quake since 1903 and I understand it was Australia's biggest since the fatal one in Newcastle, New South Wales in the 1980s.

My first thought was that a possum (a record-size one) had got in under the roof and was running just above the ceiling!

Maybe it's not such a rare event in North America. One day after our drama, I heard quakes hit Alaska and Washington State.
