I'm not wild over the Reostatics' version, either. But at least they kind of use the same chords and tune. I understand what they were trying to do at 4:00 minutes. The sinking of the ship is the 'climax' (alright guys... settle down...) of the story. Every thing builds up to that point, then slowly subsides on the last verse and eerie sounding outro. I suppose some people would even argue that it was skillfully done. I see little sparks of skill here and there. But they really needed to keep more of the original in there.
Okay, I'm like way late to this thread, as I just stumbled on it while looking for something else... and I'm glad to have heard it. It really makes me appreciate Jag Panzer's much better "shred" metal version of the song.
