Default seneca allegheny show

My son and I are heading to our first Lightfoot casino show on Saturday night. I believe I read here that he plays a shortened set w/o intermission at these venues but are there any other insights anyone can offer?

Also, do the guys hang around after the show or do they hit the road right away?

Just got back from the fall opener in Salamanca. Plenty of dates to choose from so don't pass up the opportunity. Competing with the casino crowd was a challenge but worth the hassle to hear "Sea of Tranquility" and "Restless"

A little bittersweet since this was my first show since 1975 that I didn't see Terry playing but Carter did a great job and I appreciate his work as a fingerstyle player.

Dan R. and Char pics
The shw as a 90 minute casino set with 25 songs, very little chit chat and a couple of the usual jokes. There were huge monitors on either side of the stage. There were around 2000 people at the show.
He sounded great right from the git-go and the whole night was terrific. A flub of lyrics during SFAWN was the only glitch. It was a great way to start off this leg of the tour and afterwards he was pumped about the rest of the shows coming up. He's as lean as ever but seemed energized and was heading off to bed when we said goodbye. Where he gets the stamina is beyond me.
The red velvet waist coat made an appearance. Folks at the show tonight will probably see the blue one..

Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot brought his brand of folk music to the Seneca Allegany Casino, in Allegany, New York, on Saturday evening. Gordon performed for an audience of about 2,000 fans who hung on his every lyric. He began his set shortly after 7:00PM and played for a little over an hour and a half.

Lightfoot opened the show with "Did She Mention My Name" and went on to sing a bevy of his folk classics. Throughout the show, he meticulously switched back and forth between a 12 string and a six string acoustic guitar. He told a few jokes and a few stories between songs. He let the audience know that "Fine As Fine Can Be" was written for his daughter, who was ten years old at the time that he wrote it. She is now 46 years of age. For the most part, however, in true folk music fashion, he let the songs tell the stories.

The crowd listened intently to each tune, cheering between songs. The audience could not help but to sing along during songs like "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "If You Could Read My Mind." Gordon introduced "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" as a song he wrote for a folk album. He and his band seemed full of emotion while performing this number. Speaking of his band, they are a group of fine musicians. He proudly introduced the band about midway through the show. Bass player Rick Haynes has been performing with Lightfoot since 1969. The band was rounded out by Carter Lancaster on guitar, Barry Keane on the drums and keyboardist Mike Heffernan.

At 72 years old, Lightfoot still has his signature baritone voice and he can still play his 12 string acoustic guitar in an impressive fashion. Lightfoot finished his set with "Song for a Winter's Night." He returned to the stage for a one song encore, which was befittingly titled "In My Fashion."

Gordon Lightfoot is a true living folk music legend. His audience at the Seneca Allegany Casino spanned across the decades. He is quite an accomplished musician and if you have an opportunity to see him, you should take it.
