Default Ok,do my ears deceive me or what?

After trying for many months to obtain a copy of Sit Down Young Stranger(I'm sorry gang, but it will always be I.Y.C.R.M.M. to ME.I just can't think of it as anything but that. And yes,the copy I have is a NEW,unused, factory sealed copy under the ORIGINAL title),I finally got my copy today(used part of the money my folks gave me for x-mas)I noticed something I hadn't before now.It seems that there are NO background vocals on the orginal version of I.Y.C.R.M.M. I don't hear them there, just on the Gord's Gold version.

Anyone else ever notice this,or is it just that my ears have gone wonky? Or I guess it could be my stereo.

I have never paid attention. I don't have a record player anymore so I wouldn't be able to help you. Interesting though. Good catch on the album!!

Yes, there are two mixes of IYCRMM.

The mix on the album has no background vocals. The 45 mix does have the background vocals added. Record companies often sweetened single mixes to assure a spin on radio stations. The mix with the background vocals (single mix) is included on Gord's Gold and Complete Greatest Hits.

Lightfoot later changed the arrangement slightly in concert where Rick and Terry did not sing the entire chorus, but only "I just don't get it" and "I just can't get it back".

A great tune and one of my all-time favorite songs by any artist, anytime.
