I must admit, it does make you want to scratch your head a while as you try to figure it out. I grew up on the show, and over the years, I came to see that the Clampett clan were not failing to adapt to society, but rather society was having a hard time dealing with people who didn't let the world corrupt them & their morals. I often thought that the Clampetts were the ones who had a better grip on reality as it seemed that family and their neighbours well being was what mattered most. They were a bit simplistic, but they were good people.
