Re: Lena Horne has died
No argument from me Charlene.
Lena was an amazing Hollywood legend.
A woman who flatly refused to play the stereo-types that Hiollywood offered African American performers their so-called Golden-Age.
Who was nothing short of a bolt of lightning when she performed. Either on Screen in the wonderful film "Stormy Weather" or live.
I first saw her on Sesame Street in the early 70s , singing "It's Not Easy Being Green" w / Kermit The Frog.
Not just a song about Kermit's color but how difficult it seems to be in this life to feel different than others and just to be one's self. Lena knew that very well.
I'm sure those who watched The Cosby Show, will never forget her appearence in that particular episode as well. Top that off with a career that spanned about 70 years.
What makes it that much sadder is she passed away on Mother's Day.
Here's to you Lena Horne , I know you shall Rest In Peace.
