upcoming radio show
Hi folks.
During this wonderful working holiday in the beautiful province of Ontario we have included a live one hour radio show hosted by Heather Fielding which will feature the very talented Paul Bartlett and John Stinson.
The show is called "Acoustic Workshop" and will air on Monday night, March 29th at 7:00PM Ontario time.
For information on how to access the show go to www.ciut.fm It is 89.5 on the FM dial in the Toronto area.
John and Paul both were students of the late Red Shea, Gordon Lightfoot's former lead guitar player. They will be performing several LIghtfoot tunes as well as talking about their experiences studying with Red.
Also tagging along will be yours truly together with my son, Liam for a tune or two.
Hope you can tune in.
Cheers, Ron J.

Re: upcoming radio show
Thanks guys.
Really looking forward to this one.
I'm off to Ottawa again tomorrow for one last show on Saturday night and then back down to Toronto on Sunday for the radio show Monday night and then back to Vancouver on April 8th do get back to some serious work.
John Laroque of "Ring Music" in Toronto has my Gibson B45 twelve string and is setting up for me the way he does Gord's. Should be ready next week.
Great times these are for this aging folkie but loving every second of it.
You all are the greatest!
Stay loose,
RJ.
PS. Took some pics of Gord's old hose in Rosedale today and will try and get them up to share but I may need a little help from my friends.

Re: upcoming radio show
so what went wrong??
I had the live CIUT internet transmission on at 7:30-8:00PM EST
and New Jersey and Ontariario are both in the same time zone or were
the last time I checked.I certainly heard the announcer say it was CIUT
and I checked the time on several clocks but heard nothing even vaguely resembling Lightfoot music. did anybody else??If so did anybody record it??

Re: upcoming radio show
Hi
Thanks to Ron Jones for introducing the Heather Fielding radio show (Acoustic Workshop) to us. I've never done anything on a radio show before.
Just wondering if there are any requests to play any particular Lightfoot tune. Paul and I will probably only have an opportunity to play 5 or songs I think.
Oh..and the show is available online so you can listen where ever you are in the world. Its not limited to the Toronto area only. Good old Internet world makes it a world wide thing.
If we don't hear from anyone...we'll most likely play our favorite ones...
Changes
Song For A Winter's Night
Early Morning Rain
If You Could Read My Mind
Rainy Day People
Inspiration Lady
Anyway...hope all are doing well..
John Stinson
(Oh its tomorrow evening March 29 at 7pm)

i suppose i is a GL theme show but if you are doing the odd song that Gord have covered, like Changes (dont think i have heard you guys do that gem) then i hope you tackle On Susans Floor one day, your voice would be so suited to that era and there is nice bit of a solo that Paul could have fun with
as for unaccompanied (ie. no bed tracks) tunes, i have always thought Inspiration Lady, If Children Had Wings (imo, a must for showcasing your talents) and Im Not Supposed To Care (ditto) are wonderful...you cant go wrong, its all good...have fun!

Just chiming in to let you know I also listened. RJ's harmonizing with his son was a stand-out, along with RJ's shout-out to 'corfid'.
Most enjoyable.

Re: upcoming radio show
i caught a good chunk of the show but did record on analog audiotape (found and old unopened BASF tape, lol) the old fashioned way and will check it out...i will edit out commercials and digitize depending on how char makes out with the Sony...they seem to be still playing the James Gordon acoustic workshop at the CIUT site
IYCRMM was really wonderfully musically and the key was so suited to John, great phrasing
loved the live DQ harmony and Liam's AGFNR tune also
RJ, was the Bitter Green rendition played from a CD track or we're you two singing and playing guitars live with just backing tracks for dobro, percussion, bass and added harmonies? heartful version
will GL receive a cheque or some sort thanks to your performances? if so, he should take you all out for lunch
congrats, once again...glad you spelled out corphid for all those curious googlers out there
hope the lightfoot tribute gig requests pour in, RJ gets the cd out soon and Liam keeps up the writing, performing and productions when he's not painting or exercising one of his other talents including familying...btw, pass along birthday wishes
jj

Re: upcoming radio show
Thanks guys and a special thanks for your kind support.
I think we all were a little edgy but it sure was a great feeling, especially having John and Paul there with us and it was their very first time doing live radio.
I thought they did a tremendous job.
The version of "Bitter Green" was played from the CD track and is the final product.
Heather tells me that she'll get me a copy of the complete show in cd format before I head back to Vancouver April 8th which I'd be happy to share.
PS: Gord will most definitely be paid. The copyright act protects our artists it's very important to "be careful while bending the law" if one so chooses. Lots of cool info at : www.cmrra.ca.
Stay loose,
RJ.

Re: upcoming radio show
Thank you Char.
Will extend your kind wishes onto Liam and grandson (Aiden).
I have spoken to Kenyon and we're trying to arrange a time when we can make the most of out it considering everyone's schedules which requires a bit of juggling these days as you would know.
He's anxious for me to try out his newly acquired Gibson B 45 twelve string and I can't wait for that to happen.
Hopefully we can work something out in the way of a gathering maybe this coming weekend if possible.
I know that a few of the folks who live in town and close by would like to do something as well. Will stay posted.
Cheers,
RJ.

Re: upcoming radio show
Aiden, a wonderful name
I got to listen to the a tape of the show and realized how much I missed in the live airing...all fun stuff with good chemistry...I didn't even hear Changes the first go round, it was wonderful to hear...speaking of non GL stuff, I regret not requesting that RJ and Liam perform "Where Do You Go To My Lovely"...a real standout and, imo, a signature RJ flavour to it
Paul's voice really takes to the mic nicely...anecdotes and tidbits from all were a pleasure to take in...do it again sometime

Hi T.G.
Heather Fielding is putting the show on a cd and mailing it out to me in Vancouver.
If you can give me a mailing address in a private email here I will ensure you have a copy.
Cheers,
RJ.
