Default Valerie please contact the Auctioneer!!

a google alert earlier today
sure got my attention and my first reaction was to include it in a new "blog" message, but then I thought it was too important to be lost on that worthy effort of mine so here it is:-
Google News Alert for: "gordon lightfoot"

the main link was to:-

New Braunfels, TX (PRWEB) April 15, 2008 -- Gordon Lightfoot's silver and gold parade saddle

So naturally I googled and discovered the auction catalogue at:-
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/catalog/15641
which nicely links to
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5124529
where it is further described as

and another picture

with a suggested price:-

OK can anybody (Annie?) find anything about this earlier Gordon Lightfoot who obviously predated Gord's horse riding in Harry Tracy
I googled for GL and the searched progressively within the 1.5 million results for "civil war" and " saddle"
but the best I could come up with was an msn shopping listing of "War Movies & Westerns" at:-
http://shopping.msn.com/results/war-...134154/forsale?

text=category:war-movies-westerns+Theme:Sheriffs-and-Outlaws
which pleasingly does include the Harry Tracy DVD
with one copy on offer from alibris
for a mere US$2.90
and a single used copy for $3.99
First come First served of course!!

Apologies RM for the large picture I displayed, but 614KB is not really that large a jpeg
this one is smaller albeit it looks rather painful!!

Interesting, I received an email from a Lightfoot fan about 30 minutes ago asking me about this, and I said it wasn't "our" Gordon Lightfoot. I gather you have come to the same conclusion! I'm sure that the movie Harry Tracy did not have a budget for silver and gold saddles! And I can't imagine that our Gordon Lightfoot was ever a collector of such things ...

Doesn't seem like our Gord, either, unless it was a gift at some point. I did email the company to ask if it was the Canadian singer-songwriter or another GL, plus any information about its provenance/history as far as they knew it. Will let you know if I hear anything back.
