Default Gordon Lightfoot Concert Fillmore west Oct 5, 1968

Looking through my list of saved websites, I found a Gordon Lightfoot link to Wolfgangs Vault . This site has a lot of live concert audio from different artists. Including Gordon, apprearing at the Fillmore West with Red Shea and John Stockfish. Gordon seemed to be having a good time doing a lot of audience interaction.

The link is listed below...

http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/d.../579-2693.html

Hope you find it enjoyable...

Kevin

Many thanks for bringng this up again Kevin, for the benefit of those here who just
might be unaware of it
Yes it was pretty exhaustively featured a few months ago andIi think it was
Ron Meason (RM) who got his son using mp3mymp3 to record the streaming audio.
According to the vault site they have stored these concerts not in a "perfect"
quality "lossless" format, but as compressed mp3s ( a "lossy" format) of admittedly high quality (256 KBPS) Now I beileve that whilst that quality produces sound
quality of a very high standard that few will be able to distinguish from the original wav format, there is an arguable dicscrepancy... oops discrepancy even!! here.....
I suspect that Ron and Son recorded the stream firstly as wav files then made
320KBPs mp3s from them . Iif you search here you should find the older thread in
which Ron announced the uploading of the 320 set of mp3s. it may be a moot
point but it seems to me that reconstituting the 256 KBPS mp3s to wavs then
recompressing to 320KBPS may not be the optimum way of dealing with these files. If I am wrong Ron please chime in.I have spent some time unsuccessfully trying to
find a working "sniffer" programme to try to get the actual addresses of their 256
mp3s so that they could be directly downloaded ,but possibly since the Vault sells
other concerts using an mp3 download system they have obfuscated the actual mp3 addresses/URLs to prevent unpaid for downloading.Any ideas anybody??
Gunther in Sydney what say you???
Char I am sorry if your head now hurts!! Later no I am not thinking helps preseve your youth doesn' it

Yes indeed John it was Ron Meason & his son. I have it burned on a CD. I just love it after the first song (Im Not Sayin') is over, and he says " Thank You, Give me some sound will you man ? ..Right... I cant .. Hey turn up the volume will ya please? I cant hear anything.. Groovy time." Very cool 1960's Gordon Lightfoot...

Chiming in.....

I plead....Not Guilty

Indeed....I asked my son if there was any way that he could capture the performance, and then preserve it on a cd for me. He said yes...I turned away, and he did it in his fashion, in his way. I then asked him to share his method on corfid, and he obliged. That's all I know.

I believe he used a temporary file storing site.

Yes Yes Yes Mende there are dozens of programs available to record anything that is coming out of your computer's loudspeakers,
FROM your soundcard to your hard drive etc
I will try to cry out the basic research and experimentation ASAP to find how to use my favourite all can do audio program MusicMatch to record streaming audio. but that is not the point I was making in my somewhat technical musings.
This was that it might be that the original output from wolfgang's Vault would in fact have been from their library of 256KBPs mp3s
and that the mp3mymp3 as used by Mr Meason Jr would most likely HAVE been made from the stream as an all in one file in either uncompressed wav or compressed mp3 format and just possibly the same 320kbps as he usedfotr the mp3 set he subsequently uploaded to the file storage site.
In fact in the original thread at:-
http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showthread...light=wolfgang
Ron's son actually said
"
3. Now via mp3mymp3 you will have an option to save as mp3 or wave. Click on the button "save to mp3" or "save to wav". A dialog will pop up and you can name your file etc."
but he omitted to say if his original "all in one" file was saved as a wav or an mp3
However he continued
"
I have separated and made available via fileden the whole wolfgang concert in 320kbs mp3 file format"
which is obviously ambiguous but I took it to infer that he had separated the original all in one file first (in whatever format he had recorded it which I sensed was more likely to have been wav) and then encoded to individual mp3s at 320KBPS. Of courwe I could well be wrong there
(Although if he had started with a single all in one 320KBPS mp3 that would also have been separable of course)
I still would like to know if it would be possible to sniff out the site's library 256 mp3 mp3 recordings and download them directly
Although as I said the vault owners would presumably take steps to prevent this "short circuiting" of their paid download service.
BUt in order to be lijnked from the concert "play" page those mp3s must be stored on the Vault website somewhere surely??
I had in fact checked that page's HTML source code but found no obvious links
I had ended with my hope that Gunther who is a self declared audiophile would chime in because possibly he has already explored such a procedure.Meanwhile Kevin and other newbies the link to the older thread above will now grant you access to the set of 18 mp3s as uploaded by Ron's son starting at:-
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/11...20Sayin%27.mp3

Just a further note (if the files are still there),

I believe my son also cleaned up the sound a bit with a recording application that is used for my personal music. I'm not 100% sure of that, but I did receive a couple of comments that the sound quality was most acceptable.
