Default In The Sky

After the oatmeal, I went with my son, Levi to Spirit Mountain, near Duluth, MN. It was a very good and memorable experience. We rode on the shuttle to the Chalet' and rented our gear. First time for me putting on ski boots and skis. We rode on this belt like an escalater for ski to the top of the prospector hill and stood around up there for a little while listening to some other beginners beginning. We didn't have an instructor. Levi had gone once before, and once he started down, I took off after a few seconds. I felt like a real skier going a little bit to the right and left at a good clip and zipping past Levi, I heard him say WOW! That was the highlight of my day. Then I wiped out real good but I liked that too. I didn't feel embarrassed, and I didn't get hurt or anything. I skied down a couple more times, but Levi skied much more than I did and even went to a steeper hill. It was a good day in the great outdoors. I loved being there and it was good to see people of all ages beginning to ski. I would like to go again sometime.

The way I got the ski vouchers was kind of because of Gordon. I was reading comments on the radio station website (95.7 The Bridge) and some guy had written in about seeing Gordon at the DECC (Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center), and he had written to the DECC to try to get Gordon to come back there again (which he did last Sept.). So, I posted a comment about his comment and also about liking Gordon's music, then the radio man sent me ski vouchers. Around a week before that, I said a prayer for Levi to go skiing again soon. I know he really liked going once back when he was in 8th grade. I'm sure it was the prayer, and I like how it was answered.

Isn't it nice to know someone hears and answers prayers? Glad you had such a good time and hopefully you will get a second chance.

Yes, that is so nice when prayers are answered. It was a nice day too. Nice weather and everything. One thing I might add is that when we were at this steeper hill, we looked over to where we had been earlier, and some people had done a good job of rigging up some skis to a couch and were pushing it up the hill and a bunch of people slid down on that. It looked pretty hilarious.

My goodness Patti,

I would be scared to death to slide down on that couch. Did you get to actually get to see them slide down?

The couch went down the hill really good. It didn't spin or anything.

That couch sounds like fun! I would be too much of a chicken to actually try skies, I think. A couch sounds much safer, lol

Sounds like fun but I still would be a big chicken. Jesse, do you have a chicken for me?

Patti, I am happy to hear you had such fun.

I think they were being thoughtful bringing up the couch. It kept the spirits up and hopefully was an encouragement to someone.
