Wolftrap in June
I have a reminder on my computer that keeps popping up to remind me to buy Wolftrap tickets. So I checked, and the Filene Center doesn't list its summer shows yet. So I'll be hitting "snooze" on Outlook for a while longer!
I hope it is cooler than the last time I saw him there -- everyone in the audience was steam-cooked it was SO sticky hot.
Wish he'd play Charlottesville or Roanoke VA -- they have great venues (Paramount Theater in C-ville, Civic Center in Roanoke...acts like John Prine play there). The Jefferson Center in Roanoke gets acts like Tony Rice, jazz acts, and a lot of Wolftrap type artists.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Hello Bill,
Just wanted to let you know that the tickets for Wolftrap are suppose to go on sale March 17th. I too wish it would be cooler or at least not so humid. Hope to get a chance to meet you that night.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Jesse Joe,
I have been to Wolftrap before but not to see GL. It is probably the nicest outdoor theater I have ever been to. I was lucky enough to see Riverdance there and had a great seat. It was in June during the day and the humidity was very bad. Hopefully it will be better in early June for GordQuest 2008.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Ok thanks DSR, I know Bill W posted some pics a while back, and since then I saw a lot of pics of The Wolftrap, and it is very different from most venues. Another one would be Red Rocks. Very beautiful as well.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Jbt and I saw Gord in Wolftrap in August of 2006. We met up with Billw and his wife and Elizabeth. It was a gorgeous venue - reminded me a bit of a log cabin in the middle of the woods. The heat was sweltering and the humidity made it very uncomfortable, but it would be hard to beat the cool atmosphere. If the Wolftrap and the Keswick Theater dates were spread out a bit, I'd be returning this summer...oh well.

Hey podunklander,
Does this mean I might be seeing you again in June? Oh, hear me complain.

Re: Wolftrap in June
I just found out that the summer schedule for Wolftrap will be announced Monday and tickets will go on sale March, 29th. Wish I had known that a few weeks ago. I have been counting the days. I guess I have to count some more.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Hi Elizabeth,
Ken and I will be at Wolf Trap. We are meeting some friends there who live in the area so dinner will not work for us. Let's stay in touch and try to meet before the concert and/or intermission. Not to rush Massy but I can't believe we only have about 5 weeks to go.

Re: Wolftrap in June
I will be there. I have never been to Wolftrap so I am not familiar with it.
However, I am very excited about going. It will be my first time seeing Gordon.

Re: Wolftrap in June
We wanted to go, but ultimately backed out for a variety of reasons...last time in 2006 it was so miserably sticky hot, gas prices, pet boarding, hotel, meals, baby sitter...lawn tickets turned into a several hundred dollar situation. It would literally be cheaper to fly to see him somewhere indoors.
Wish he'd play indoors on the east...like he did play Greensboro, NC several years ago. Hope he tours next year and the booking agent thinks about the weather!
Had it been inside I would have gone, but I had to make the hard call not to go.

Re: Wolftrap in June
Wolf Trap...Humid evening (not as bad as it was two years ago...remember BILLW?) with thunder storms just prior to the concert , making the Lawn a muddy mess! Gord entered to a standing ovation and a full house of people of 'a certain age'. He opened with 'Cotton Jenny' followed by (in no particular order) 'Carefree Highway', '14 Karat Gold', 'The Wreck'' and others. He sounded a bit tired during the concert, which, given his tour schedule is not surprising. I think he may have worn himself out... his voice was weaker than I have ever heard it and frankly, he didn't look like he was having much fun...something he usually does. Hopefully, Dorrie (DSR) can provide us with more insights and fill you in on the rest of the songs ...I'm not a good steno and we left early to beat the traffic.
It was fun meeting DSR...Gord acknowledged her from the stage and she 'whooped' it up after most songs. Also she brought me two GL buttons which show a young Gord and GL as he looks now. Thanks DSR! BILLW and Lizanne...you were missed.

Re: Wolftrap in June
{53 seconds} of "The Wreck" at Wolftrap, 06/14/2008
{45 seconds} of "If You could Read My Mind", and {25 seconds} of "Restless." Too bad because both audio & video are fairly good.
