THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published Monday February 4th, 2008

NEW YORK - Microsoft Corp.'s bid for beleaguered Internet icon Yahoo Inc. is a staggering sum that, if a deal goes through, will rank as one of the largest U.S. technology transactions.

Although Microsoft's bid late last week was originally valued at US$44.6 billion, it's a cash-and-stock offer whose value fluctuates. As of Friday's close at $28.95 per share, Microsoft's bid is now valued at $41.7 billion.
