Hi all,
a) discussion board policy change:
To cut down on spam and board trolls it is now mandatory to be a registered member for posting privileges - unregistered visitors can still read the discussion board, but are unable to post a message.
b) new discussion board:
First of all, I'd like to apologize for the recent outage(s) of the website. These were caused by the fact that we've outgrown the current setup (discussion board software / hosting company). I'm working on a new setup now which includes a different webhost and a new discussion board software. Progress is coming along nicely and I expect to be ready for the move next weekend. The address of the discussion board will change, so for those of you who have set a bookmark directly to the discussion board please be sure to follow the links on the main page at www.corfid.com and renew your bookmarks. In preparation of this move it will be necessary to close the discussion board every now and then. If things go as planned, everything should be back to normal on Monday 3rd July. Thank you for your patience and understanding in advance.
best regards
-Florian

I dont know you Mr.Bodenseher, but you seem like a pretty good person. Thank you for this great Website, to give Gordon Lightfoot fans, such as myself, a chance to chat about this wonderful poet. It is very much appreciated.
All the best to you, and yours! >>> Jesse-Joe.

Testing....the changes are probably for the best.....so....at the risk of being flamed out as others have been, I have now registered.

Uh-oh. Ya might hafta buy him another keyboard now; the one he's currently using will be worn out by the time he gets finished.
So is Corfid being updated, or are we switching to an entirely different site altogether? Either way, I'm a lookin' 4rd to 7/3/06. :D

Thanks so much for all you do, Florian. Looking forward to the new site!
Good job, RMD! Being registered really has nothing to do with getting flamed - it just gives the flamer the option to do so in public or private instead of just public I can't imagine you'll have any problems. If you'd still rather not get "private messages" you can set your account up to disallow that feature.

Janice,
I thank you for the vote of confidence. The apprehension arises from the likes of Watchman, Sheryl, and Mary. There seems to be something happening in private, or, they were just crazy. If it was the latter, I'm here to take their place.

Well, you know, we're all a little bit crazy, but some people are a bit crazier than others. (including myself). LOL

Like Steve Martin said in a routine on time, which I'll paraphrase:
"I'd like to thank Florian for all he does..thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you!! :D LOL!
I'm sure that icludes not losing one's message when editing or anything, which I told Char about.

My reasons for becoming a registered member were twofold :
1) I find this site to consist of one of the most intelligent, well spoken, and diverse group of people I have encountered on the internet.
2) To find out if the rumors are true

be sure to update us on reason nr. 2
The main address of www.corfid.com remains the same, only the link to the discussion board will temporarily be somewhat different.

Hi all,
Move is postponed for now, unfortunately some technical issues with integrating the old messages into the new software came up that need to be resolved; I'll continue to work on it next weekend.

So all our old topics will be moved into the new website? Gosh, sounds like a lot of work...
We 'ppreciate it, though.

Florian, sorry things aren't going as smoothly as you expected. Thanks for going the extra mile or ten in order not to lose the history. We certainly do appreciate all your efforts!

Fading Away,
That was srictly a tongue-in-cheek-remark. I was experiencing a "silly mood" when I posted that.
Sorry. But I can start one if you wish....
