Last Saturday night I ventured down Santa Monica way to McCabes Guitar Store.

Ian Tyson (w/ a Fender bassman named Gord on his left, and a Martin fancy picker named Gord on his right,) sang of Navajo Rugs and Charlie Russell, Elko & Mona's (been to both,) Saddles and Saddless Mustangs, The Song That Paid the Mortgage on the Ranch (twice,) and a closing Over the Rainbow that flat knocked me down.

The 72yr old Baritone is stronger than ever, I do believe. He's headed up to Bend, OR next. Janice tells me he came up from San Diego to Santa Monica. Rare these days.

Great new album - Songs From the Gravel Road. Did much stuff from the CD - each right up there w/ his best.

Got to chat a bit after and told him of The Lightfoot Connection here. So, Ian Tyson gives a high wave of the hat to all the Corfidders.

I hadn't seen him in concert since Elko in the 80s at The Cowboy Poet Roundup. All the chawin', handlebar mustacheod, rough riders were vivid.

Ian was vivid. And Mona's . . . well . . .

Adios,

The Rez

Thank you, Rez. That was nice of you and I'm sure you had a great time -- sounds like it. Glad to hear Ian's doing so well.
