My Mother asked me yesterday if it was Lightfoot that sang a song about the US standing alone. She thinks it was written and sung by a Canadian and it is about no other country coming to help the US in crisis. I am assuming that it was about the September 11 attacks but I'm not sure, she isn't either. I know it wasn't Gord. Does this sound remotely familiar to anyone?

I know there was an article written by a Canadian after the 9/11 attacks, that said essentially the same thing. I'll see if I can find it. Never heard about a song though...
Try looking up a guy named Gordon Sinclair, he was from Canada and he recorded this editorial (spoken, not sung) about Canada sticking up for the US because no one else did, it was recorded in the 70s. He was from Canadian radio and I heard it once in awhile in say 1974. Wish I could remember the title, I want to say it was called The Americans, but I am not sure.
You're absolutely right superiorsings! I googled him and the piece is entitled The Americans, hey brink, don't forget to click the link at the bottom that gives the true story behind the writing of the piece and it's aftermath. Very interesting.
No problem, LSH, I hoped all this goofball trivia would come in handy one day. Must be the piece was resurrected after 9/11 but was written way before that.
