In the thread posted by John F. he asks about my deleting of messages. Which I answered in that thread,so I wont repeat it here. I just want to say though that when I 1st came to this site,I did do that when I thought the topic ran it's course. I don't do that anymore. Of late,I had a topic that John brings up,that I did just delete for what I felt was lack of interest. As I stated in his thread,I should have waited longer. On the other hand though, when I posted a message asking if The Anciet Mariner would have made a good Gordon Lightfoot song,I did get 1 reply from watchman on that question but got more comments on spelling and grammer and a bit of sarcasm about how I sign off on messages. On another thread,I was asked why I felt it necessary to sign my name to my messages so much. If I recall, this is supposed to be a site for all to use to talk about Gord and other topics in Small Talk. Lately,to me,it's been more of a forum for nit-picking. If a person wants to put a signature on a message each time, that's their perogative to do so. Otherwise there would not be the option offered here. People mis-spell and sometimes use grammer that's not perfect but at no-time have I ever criticized anyone for doing so. I have politley suggested to Tattoo Man that he should brush-up a bit on his literary skills but I did so with no bad intentions. I hope in future posts we can just stick to the main purpose here and stay away from unecessary critiques. I know we have a God-given right to express ourselves but sometimes things are better left unsaid. Thanks for reading this and I hope you know,I still like all of you and I like being up on here with people of a shared interest and for that matter, just good folks. P.S.-I promise:No More Deleting! Swear To God!

Dont sweat it, Borderstone, I think many on this site are having some Gord withdrawl, since he's had to put his career on hold until fall '04. Idle minds tend to focus on some non-important stuff in the meantime. I dont know how things will be by next summer, when, if all goes well, we're still a couple of months away from Gord re-starting his career...but we'll just have to hang out and hold on.

Borderstone, I don't post very often, but read everyday. When I see your posts I know no matter what you write, I will enjoy reading, whether I agree or not. I've always found your enthusiasm a bright spot in the day. Please don't let a few comments dampen it.
I like Rob's response that we are all suffering from withdrawl. I agree. I think for the most part the people that participate here are nice folks, with an occassional bad day. I wouldn't take it too personally.

Borderstone: I've been wanting lately to let you know that I enjoy your contributions very much. You seem to be interested in most of the topics brought up, and I love your enthusiasm. I don't care anything about perfect grammar or great writing ability. I don't think that's important. Our feelings and appreciation for Gordon Lightfoot's work are what is important. Don't ever leave.

Borderstone,
I just want to say I agree with everything that Jenney had to say. You're a bright
light on this forum - nutty as a fruitcake
(as we say in the UK) but as bright as a
star. Keep posting. I'll keep reading.

Yeah...I echo the comments of others, B-stone! Like I said somewhere else...You call yourself an "avid listner"...which shows that you have a sense of humour and are not all hung up on spelling...Geez, why is it that people can't just let folks chill and have a good time on these boards anymore? I belong to another posting board on - of all topics - HO slot cars and lately it has been dominated by the Spelling Police! Don't sweat the details B-stone, ol' friend, just keep being you and we'll keep reading and getting our kicks too!!!!

Borderstone,
I didn't know whether to post this on this thread or the John Fowles "deleting your own" one but.....here goes. I post ever so rarely on this board but I've been here for 3+ years. With Gord out on "recovery leave" it gets a little difficult to stay on topic or even have a topic! However, I tune in daily just to see what you are going to say because your enthusiasm is a real uplifter.
When I first found this site I read every post that had ever been posted from the beginning of the board. Then I explored all the other topics listed on the home page. I found a new toy and just couldn't get enough. I also wanted to get the flavor of this group. What I found was a great bunch of people who were...and are...immensely loyal and devoted fans of a great artist. Not every topic that has been introduced took off with a long line of responses. But I've noticed that you have resurrected some of those older topics and brought them into the "now" and have gotten responses. There could be all kinds of reasons that this happens but I'm asking you to please not delete your own posts. Yes, you can do whatever you want with your own topics but ya never know if another Borderstone...well, I doubt there is another one of those ...might come along next week or next year and find one of your topics then turn it into an active thread. So please leave that "male t.v. remote" thing outside on the sidewalk before you go into the library. For the most part seemingly nit-picky responses by some posters is not really malicious so try not to take it the wrong way. There have been some really blackhearted posts over the years and what you've received is not that kind of responses at all.
Bottom line here is keep it coming B and keep your finger off the delete button

That's a smiley face but I think I'm-A-Gonna-Cry. (Or is that,"Baby I'm A Want You"? ) I sincerely thank you all for these heartfelt messages. You've just helped my summer morale as well. It's so humid and hot here in Phoenix and mother nature's playing "keep away" with the rain storms! It rained on the night of July 20th for almost 90 mins. and that was our 1st rain in 3 months and 5 days! I know the heat and the drudgery of the summer is probobly affecting me as well. So now, let's see what can we do about that? I know!! Let's sing something dorky! : Her name was lola, she was a showgirl! With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down ta there! She would merenguie and do the cha-cha! But that was twenty years ago when they used to have a show! Now it's a disco...but not for Lola! She lost her love and her prime and now she's lost her mind! At the Copa! Copa-cabana! Copaaaa. Copa-cabanaaa! I feel so much better now! Later!

Okay, here comes another heated debate. I think that Watchman, also has the right to say what he feels. Now to be honest sometimes the spelling and grammar leave me wondering what the poster means and what they are talking about. Also, I was raised during a time that spelling was very important and I am kind of anal about it. Sometimes I fat finger the keyboard or don't have time to look up the spelling of a word and misspell myself. By no means am I trying to chastise you Borderstone or you Watchman, this is my opinion alone and I hope that no one takes offense, I read everything and if I can't read it, then it must not be important enough to worry about.
Just my opinion folks, now I will have to check all my spelling on my posts forever!

No offense taken Brink! Actually,in school I was an A+ speller, reader and passed my english classes fairly easily. There's almost no word I can't spell,as long as I remember the lessons I was taught then. I know I could spell "probobly" correct by checking my dictionary at home but I just haven't done it. The only other deterrent to my messages in the beginning was learning to type on the keyboard. I use two or three fingers because I can't do the proper positioning with my hands. I try to and it's like typing with my hands bound together. Things I normally type on here I can do without looking but even though I'm pretty fast, sometimes I will hit or miss a letter by accident, then I have to go back and edit. Brink, you don't have to correct anything. Just because some people make mistakes does not mean their message is not worth reading. Unless it's just a rambling piece of non-sense. (Don't say it! ) It's been me. Later

Hey Borderstone, I hope you never get mad and leave this forum. Your posts are always enjoyable and usually very interesting.
I thought you were a little out of character
on the tatoo man thing but everyone is free
to make comments. I too can get a little "bugged" by people that use i when they should use I.
Don't sweat the small stuff, Border-buddy.

Borderstone,
I know what your talking about. We're still a couple of inches short of rainfall for the season here in Tucson as well. Mother nature did put on quite a show Friday night though with more then 40,000 lightning strikes in less than six hours. At least we've had enough rain to put out all of the major fires that were burning. Hang in there, Fall is on it's way: and what ever you do, keep postin'.

Norma? How did you find out my secret? No one is supposed to know that I turn into a cat after Sundown! I thought I saw a flash but dismissed it as lightning! Great. Now you all know! As for the dogs,I happen to adore both dogs & Cats so,no offense taken. On the serious side,if I leave a somewhat lengthy message,it's because I have a lot to say and a lot on my mind. ..and that's what minds are for! Peace!

Since I am new to the board, and try and read all the great topics and reply's, I think the thought and subject matter is so much more important than this unfortunate "bull". I hope Borderstone keeps up the great writing. I appreciate it.

DMD 3,okay...I give up,what is the reason of replying to this particular thread? Except for the really nice messages people left me,I'd forgotten about it. Just curious.
Searam or Sean, thanks and welcome to the site! If you look a the top of the message before DMD3's message, this topic was back in July of last year. Some folks were nitpicking then, they're not now. Thank goodness. Have fun man! Aurevoir!

Thanks, Borderstone! I didn't know when, just that we should all be a family for Gord. Great news that he may be well enough to play a show at the hospital! He is an amazing person! One of the shows I saw him at was in Atlanta, before I moved to L.A., in a suburb called Peachtree City, a small ampitheatre holding maybe 750 seats, and I sat right in front of him throwing out requests. He did them all! I was only about five feet from him at the same level! I can only imagine that the show he will do for the hospital will be as intimate.
Thanks for the welcome!!
Sean
