Does anyone have any of the vinyl GL albums? If so do any of them contain the following 'sort of ' liner quote describing GL "He is a big guitar- surrounding man'? I seem to remember this from one of the vinyls I had years ago and always loved this description of him. I think it may have been written by John Court and appeared on one of the early albums - maybe The Sunday Concert. I foolishly threw them all out(including some Ian and Sylvia vinyls)when I moved in 1994.

OK.....just found this "He is a massive guitar surrounding singer." John Court was the producer at the time, but the quote was by Robert Markle, Gord's friend and painter.
His quote, "Gord is in my studio, and I'm trying to get this drawing done. He's singing, trying to workout something, moving all over, and he's a massive guitar surrounding singer, composer, performer, and therefore that's what the drawing should be all about. I get the drawing done he gets his song on the way, and we both get a bit of beer, scotch into us. All happy. I get back to refining my drawing, he goes upstairs for more work.".................
Just found this on an album that was a re-issue from 1967 by "UA". The re-issue is
"The Way I feel" by Liberty in 1980.

Thanks so much Aime_41. I was sure John Court or Robert Markle wrote it. I think that describes the young GL to a tee. Those were the days!I wish I still had my vinyls. Oh well.

Oh Silverheels - yes I did indeed throw out all my vinyls when I moved including the above also a treasured Eric Anderson. I regretted it almost immediately. Now it makes me really sad to think of what I lost in the way of liner notes and cover art. I particularly loved the GL album cover when he was very young and all you could see was about a quarter of his face and CURLS all over the place. I think it was one of the renamed albums but it had a large 'Lightfoot' in yellow on the cover. If I was at home I could probably get the name from Songbook. I just cannot forget that cover.

I have maybe a dozen vinyls. Kept wondering why there aren't more...but then we went to tapes. Have enough of those to fill two racks of tapes. Have one very old one.......I don't have time to look for it right now, but will tonight. He was singing
"Dark as A Dungeon" (is that correct?) with someone else, if I remember correctly. It was live and you could hear them tuning their guitars and people laughing. Will look it up when I get home.

P.S. - Yes, those were the days!!!!!!!!
Where DID they go?

Hi Louise yet again
Sorry that I "outed" you recently but everything I revealed was on public record somewhere!!!
regarding the album I expect you mean this old 1962 album with the late Terry Whelan
which includes the very nice "Dark as a dungeon" and I seem to remember they said to the audience that "we hope you are going to dig it"!!!
If you mean that you still have an actual vinyl it is worth quite a bit now
John Fowles
read today it gave me a chuckle anyway

At least, that's what the Mastercard commercials say.

John,
Unfortunately. I don't have the original vinyl. I have a tape that someone made for me
years ago.....before the days of the internet. We started corresponding as a result of reading "Goldmine" magazine. Wiah that I did have the vinyl, but YES, it WAS
"The Two Tones". Thanks!

Was there a GL album (vinyl) with large yellow lettering spelling Lighfoot on the cover with the above described picture of him called 'Did She Mention My Name'?

Yes and no ELizabeth
whilstI am by no means sure what you
mean by "above described picture" although it does have another very nice picture
the album cover of DSMMMN you could see on this site at:- http://www.corfid.com/gl/Albums/Did_..._Name/Main.htm
the "Lightfoot" on that album is mainly yellow albeit outlined in purple
similar lettering also appears on one of the interminable compilations culled from the five United Artist albums and entitled
"Over 60 minutes with Lightfoot" (this pic on a current ebay auction)

agh, well, i was playing off the commercial parody clever post that BILLW made in another thread but this time i was doing the converse/inverse/opposite type thing
i've had lots of coffee so i'll take the time to explain my brain (well, THAT's not possible, lol) ...in this case the person (moi & partially poor Eliz ) unlike in the commercial, does NOT have the items, rather they have been destroyed or disposed of, therefore, the amounts are negatives (for non-mathies or accountants, brackets are often used instead of the -ive sign) and the list leads up to the ultimate loss which could also be equated to (-ive PRICELESS) but i went with the conclusion that we are now +ive WORTHLESS without our prized possessions...agh, maybe a bit harsh eh?
anyhow, if my original post wasn't confusing enough, i'm sure this explanatory one should do the trick! lol
...i'm betting JohnF follows my illogic
ps) great hunting Aime_41, does it show Markel's sketch?

Thank you John. That is exactly the cover I meant. It has burned itself into my brain. I appreciate you scanning it. As for you jj - although I understand none of your logic I will receive it in the spirit in which I'm sure it was intended. I wonder how much those vinyls would be worth today. I don't think the Eric Anderson ever came out in CD.

hey, kisses from Sheryl = PRICELESS! lol
char, i knew you could relate! ...you must have also had all your prized O-Pee_Chee rookie cards destroyed at some point, eh? agh
confession: i entirely made up the comic book part...i've never owned one at all, nope, i don't understand the comic book craze at all, but probably my loss
i do understand the LP craze though...not just the warm analog sound or vinyl (even if scratchy) but those lovely LARGE covers and inner layouts that are great to read
man, i really hate squinting and reading that little Harmony or Songbook CD booklet, headache+ ! lol

Dad bought me this cool thing called a Va-room. It was a plastic thing, shaped kind of like a motor and was attached to the handlebars. You only had to turn a dial to get a va-room sound, like a motor revving up. I was the envy of all the kids who used cards and clothespins. I was the cool one.
