Toronto folk-pop duo Madviolet have been earning all sorts of accolades since the release of their 2004 album Worry The Jury and this winter, they'll be spreading the word as well as paying tribute to one of Canada's most beloved singer-songwriters.
The Madviolet duo — comprised of Lisa MacIsaac (yes, she is related to Ashley) and Brenley MacEachern — will be part of a Gordon Lightfoot tribute tour that will snake through Ontario this month. A band of Canadian folkies including Dave Matheson and Mike Ford (of Moxy Fruvous fame), Rick Fines, Jenny Whitely, JP Cormier and Dave Gunning will hit the road in homage to the great Lightfoot, performing songs and celebrating the icon's work.
Since the Lightfoot tour will get the Madviolet gals in top touring form, they're planning to capitalize on that momentum and continue on the road. After a Toronto club show, the duo will jet off to Australia for a series of folk festival gigs. For a full list of their Australian activities, check out the Madviolet website. In the meantime, catch them on the following Canadian dates:
