Massey Hall-Nov.2006 -pics
Friday Nov.17-06 - after show
A pic of Gord after receiving printed birthday wishes from The Net People and a card signed by those attending Massey. Folks added their locations on the card and the next night he rhymed off many states, countries etc. and mentioned "The Net People" were in attendance.
He was very gracious in accepting our wishes and thanked all of us.
Sunday Nov.19, 2006 - after show
At this Massey convention we held a raffle at the hotel with amazing donated items from several participants. The monies raised will be sent in Lightfoots'name to both hospitals that looked after Lightfoot back in 2002. Orillia and Hamilton)
A beautiful certificate (thanks to Janice for sending it!) was given to him and he was very appreciative of our efforts and thought it was fabulous.
Certificate of Appreciation to GORDON LIGHTFOOT reads:
For his years of sharing music that has entertained, comforted and encouraged us as individuals.
Music that knows no boundaries, and has no limit to its reach and depth.
Music that has created a common bond of kinship amongst a group of people world-wide.
We have joined together in gratitude to make donations in Mr. Lightfoots' honour to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and Soldier's Memorial Hospital Foundation.
We believe these organizations to be as special to him as he is to us.
signed,
"The Net People"

Charlene,
Nicely done. You folks are too much.
Was the wording on the certificate a collaboration, or did Janice compose it herself ? Either way, it's great.

man, REALLY wonderful pics and such a well worded certificate, guys
if at one point years ago, Gord and co may have perceived our net gang as perhaps a bunch of over the edge, cyber weirdos, well i think after gesture like this he's probably realized that this is a group of pretty loving and sincere folks
HHS has also served (+ is currently serving) my family & friends so well
one again, cheers
jim
ps) great to hear from you also, BW ...missed ya at Massey although i didn't even get to settle at any one point and catch up with John F, Deb, Jenney or anyone for that matter ...just a quick flurry of words with Derek and Ed before the Thursday gig

When he approached me and saw I had something in my hand he automatically went for the Sharpie in his pocket...LOL
I told him to put it away as I had something to present to him and he didn't have to sign a thing.. he was surprised! So many people have so many things to sign I guess he just expects it.
I told him that the two hospitals would receive a donation in his name, not a huge sum but one that was raised by us for two special places to not only him but to us as well. I explained about the raffle and the items that were donated.
He said "well thankyou!" in that way he has with a slight tilt of his head...I wish I had pics of him looking at the certificate.
He obviously took a good look at the birthday card at a later time and saw all the places that we came from to see him at Massey. He really was very gracious with everyone.
Janice was the author of the certificate....

Charlene, Jenney, everyone who made this happen, thank you so much. I hope to be at Massey in 2 years for his 70th birthday to meet you all.
It meant so much to me to be able to send him my own personal message, I can hardly believe it has happened!
I loved the certificate, just wish I had been able to sign it myself.
Charlene, I love your photos, what a lovely smile you have, and I get a kick out of that brown velour jacket Gord wears--must be a favorite.
My heartfelt thanks.

heh heh, just noticed in in photo#1, it appears from Gord's concerned facial expression that THIS time HE is the one having his pocket picked
agreed Gitch - Char (+ Jenney and the whole gang!) has an even brighter smile in person
only place ya find smiles (or skin) that white is in Whitby
BTW, her hair is not white, it's silver and sharper than quills
thanks for relaying Gord's subtle tilt reaction, just great stuff

No because AFAIK there was nobody in attendance from down under to sign the card.
(not one of the keen Aussie group of fans seems to be a good enough swimmer this year)

I'll be he'd have a hard time rhyming 'Tifton' as he would 'Austrailia'.

The pics with me in them were by various other wonderful photographers...some with my camera, some with theirs...so much chaos etc. I can't remember who took what- but I thank them all..There are some I haven't seen yet so pass them along folks!!
I took the ones of The Man tho...no camera police at Massey were breathing down my neck like last year. I took only a few each night since I was so close....damn he looked great...he was "FRISKY" !! omigawwd that was funny when he said that...
I'll get to the report soon folks...lots on my plate right now....all of you others can post your pics/reports etc. I know John Fowles had his camera going 24/7 with stills and video that I hope he'll soon share with us!

I hope he comes back to the Pittsburgh PA area soon. I didn't find out about the show in Champion (Seven Springs) until too late.
