New Lightfoot (remastered?) CD release, on June 24th, called "Classic Masters" (Capitol, catalog #82503). Only 12 tracks, but one is called "The Lost Children" (live). Should I know that song?

It's from the Sunday Concert album, a great example of what a live album should be.

Thanks, Annie. Before posting, I checked the song list at this site, but only looked under "L". Silly me, it's under "T"!

Do investigate the Sunday Concert album, Gwen. It contains some pretty cool rare tracks (at least, the Bear version does). I'm not usually a fan of live collections, but this really is a great one.

Borderstone, calm down, take several deep breaths, you will be okay. Close your eyes and concentrate on breathing evenly.
When you get too excited and put a lot of smileys on the reply you make my computer have a coniption and I am unable to read the posts because it travels off the screen.
Now think of a pleasant place, keep breathing slowly, okay calmly open your eyes and realize that now it is only three days away (almost!). Ohm, Ohmmmmm, Ohmmmmm.

Just to clarify, the new release is not new material, but merely another collection with a relatively limited number of tracks, one of which got my attention because of the unfamiliarity of the name. I don't know anything else about it, other than the release date, label, etc.

Okay, once again, sorry about the widening of the thread. I sometimes get carried away and forget that it will do that. I promise,no more of that. The joke's wearing kinda thin anyway. ...and Restless, new music or not,I'm just happy to get something old that's new again. Until his next studio venture is ready,I'll take whatever is offered. Hopefully though,UA and WB are done with anymore or all Greatest Hits Compilations. After 2 Gord's Gold's,2 sets on vinyl from UA and then the 2 CD UA collection,Songbook and Complete Greatest Hits last year,I think they need to stop before they over do it. (If they haven't already.) It's been the B! Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

B, I'm with you, even something old being new again is worth it. At least I will be able to hear the same old songs in a different order and with a different set list. It is nice to know that sometime there is going to be an honest new album.

Alright! After only 2 tries in finding a store that carries this CD,I've put my copy on hold at Tower Records which is a mere 3 miles down the road! I tried the grocery store across the street in their audio/visual dept. where I have bought other Gord CD's but no luck. So I tried Tower next and they said,"Yes,we do have one copy". I'd like to think that meant it's selling so much that I got lucky and it's the only one left but I'm sure we know better. I get paid in a few days but I may just dip into the emergency $ and borrow $15 for myself (being mine anyway.) I guess I can't wait to talk about it after I get it. Patience is a virtue but when you wait for something you really want it kind of taxes your virtue. When I get it I'll be back up here on this thread. Until then I'll catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

I Have Got It! I have just come back from Tower records and I now have my copy of "Classic Masters"! Official purchase time 4:38pm AZ time. I got a little worried when they said they couldn't locate it! Mercifully, after several minutes of searching, they found it! It was $12.99 + $1.05 tax for a grand total of $14.04. As mentioned it is on EMI-Capitol and for when you go to buy it,the cover is GL's picture circa 1969/70 in a very strangely hued B & W with sort of an apple green background. The 12 songs:E.M. Rain/Ribbon O.D./The Way I Feel ('66 version)/I'm Not Sayin'/For Lovin' Me/C.RR.Tril./Black Day I.J./The First Time E.I.S.Y.F./Bitter Green/If I Could/Leaves O.G. live/and The Lost Children. The liner notes tell us pretty much what we already know about him. The 1st paragraph is worth a read (I don't have time to do it here). Under the CD itself is a 1960's color picture of Gord himself! Only 4 days? Pretty cool! This is without a doubt the earliest I have ever bought a new release by a new artist except for Mariah Carey's "Rainbow",which I bought the very day it came out on Nov. 3rd,1999. As an added bonus to my trip, the store also has all 4 of the "Final Four" released on CD last year! Mine! All Mine! (When I get the $$$! It's been the B! Headin' home to play my new CD! Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

When I was in Phoenix 2 winters ago I went to Tower Records and couldn't find a single GL CD, I had driven there and wanted a new CD to go home I think it was on Tate Boulevard or something like that. I ended up with a Eva Cassidy CD that had a Gord song on it and then went back through the other GL CD's that I had with me. Tower records must have gotten smart and started carrying our buddy-is this the came one you go to or are there more and I just picked the wrong one?

Sorry,bEn. I have liked Mariah since day 1 and have no plans to stop buying anything she does! Besides, every time I see her on TV,I get the warm fuzzies (natural good vibes that is,just in case you were having lewd thoughts!) I even bought the,"Glitter" Sdtk. so there! ///// Funny you should mention the North Phx. Tower records Brink,I just found out about it 2 days ago when I had to remind myself of the # for the one I go to. I always assumed there was nothing up at that end of PHX to look at,I guess they've built it up so now I have to see this myself! I'll let you know my opinion of that one. Anyhow, the Tower I go to is right now,the oldest and only other location in the entire metro area! There used to be about 6! I guess, yes they have wised up over the years. I can't speak for the N. locale but "mine" not only has the final 4 but also Sundown,Summertime Dream,If You Could Read.. and Songbook. The CD I got yesterday at this time was "the" only one there! Why they'd only get 1? Beats me! If you're ever back in town,it's located on 19th avenue and Montebello in a shopping plaza behind Spectrum Mall. It's a slightly older neighborhood but they never have contemplated moving out because (the manager told me) the rent is dirt cheap there. I've been going there since I was a teen but I don't go as often as I used to,having greater priorities naturally! It's been the B! Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!

FYE has them for $9.99. Don't hear much re-mastering on my copy though. Good CD though.

I can't exactly explain it,but they did sound somewhat different than the way they sound on,"Songbook" and other collections. I wish I could pin-point what it exactly is but I can't. Except to say they sound even "cleaner" than before. ? By the way "Classic Masters" is not just the name of Gord's new CD,it's a product name! I was in my local Sam Goody's and saw a Classic Masters by the 1989 R & B group Soul II Soul. An act that only had 2 top 40 hits that year. I don't know if I'd get that but I'm glad I got GL's! Later!

Yes, I was aware of that. There are many bands that have been and are being released under "Classic Masters". This is not a new concept.

Gwen, and those of you who don't know what to look for when you go to find Classic Masters. There is now a picture of the CD on Tower Records.com ..it must not have been there before because it had just come out. While on that site I scrolled down to see what else might be there. I saw a CD or LP titled,"Over 60 Minutes with Lightfoot." The cover borrows the giant letters of his last name featured on the cover of "Did She Mention My Name" but gives no photo of Gord. It's basically another collection of his UA material. It must be a very rare CD or Lp because it said next to it "low stock". If you find that interesting,as mentioend,go to Tower.com //// It's been me,later! (Yes,I'm done with "the flipside phrase and any phrase like it.) Bye,now!
