I really like the song 'Christian Island' but have no idea whether it refers to a real island and, if so, where that island is. Can anyone inform me please ?
CHRISTIAN ISLAND is one of my most favourite of Gord songs and I went to find the real
Christian Island which is located in Georgian Bay in Northern Ontario. I took the
ferry from the mainland to the island which
was, at that time, an Indian Reservation. It
may still be.It was not a very romantic
place and I couldnt find Gord anywhere. I think its time for me to go
take another look.
Georgian Bay is the north eastern section of Lake Huron... ( in the same area as the "Seven Islands".. which Charlene can name but I cannot... lol )
Please let me know when you are going next SH and I will come too ( to protect you from the indians... lol ). We can watch the fish and seagulls !!! ( I'll be the one with the , "whiskers on my chin", and we can share the whisky from the highlands.)
Incidently its time you returned to the "chat" room... 8pm EST Friday, 10am Sat. Aussie EST. or midnight Friday GMT ( yes, not very civilized I agree ).
Damn !!!.. Rats !!!
I'm sorry SH.. I'll have to pass up your kind offer this year ( but no doubt hundreds will be happy to take my place... lol ). I'm hoping for 2002..( I'm relying on Chars photos this time )
From what the people in the Chat Room have told me Gord has been fantastic this tour, you will see a very special event at Massey.
Keep smiling Ron..
Beauty !!!... Thankyou SH, I look forward to that...
Gord must sing CI at Massey, although I haven't noticed it much on the setlists people have been posting... But he knows you will be there....( He'll have whiskers on his chin.... lol..)
"Silverheels" is purported (in "Christian Island") to be a boat owned by GL. The late Jay Silverheels was, I understand a native of Canada. Is there any connection? (For those not old enough to know who Jay Silverheels was, he portrayed "Tonto" in the western series "The Lone Ranger" with the late Clayton Moore.)
