Now let's see where were we.
Oh yes not here to give my weekly reminder about chat or the highlights of the two main message boards (as I see them at least).Actually my dear wife organised what was ostensibly a surprise celebration of our pending anniversaries... fifth wedding and sixth since meeting in the chat room by flying off to SoCal and Las Vegas. We were able to attend 6 of the 7 concerts and
had a tremendously fine time meeting old friends making new ones and touring. Yes we drove all the way up the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to San Francisco. We had planned an interim stopover at Cambria and before we reached there we just had to visit the hamlet of Harmony (population 18) making a great call at the
Harmony Winery

The gentleman who conducted our fine wine tasting was Joe Montross who said that a 1968 GL LA area concert was his first ever concert and he had 10 GL vinyl albums and now he knew of the Harmony CD would like to sell it in their shop
I have read Madam Klein's two concert reviews with much admiration also Doug and Ed's Newsgroup postings and Kimberly's very brief Cerritos review and pix here and her contribution to the Newsgroup "Viva Las Vegas" thread with more pix
starting at:-

and marvelled at the ridiculousness and lack of couth shown by two corfid posters (a "Lakewoodman" and another unwelcome/fibbing unregistered poster) alleging audience walk-outs etc.
I have also read Wayne's latest (May) commentary at:-
http://www.lightfoot.ca/commay05.htm
in which he quoted the four Harmony tracks that Gord sang in Friday's Orleans Casino concert.
I think I can claim the credit for that fact.
We were fortunate to be able to speak with Gordon after the Thursday show after a lady (I did not hear her voice as English Bru) called Margi had requested her favo(u)rite The Pony Man.I enquired whether he would do Couchiching as it had gone over well in Hamilton last November. He
replied that he was unsure that it would be suitable for an American audience (or words to that effect) and proceeded to sing a little of it for us. I then requested my favo(u)rite Harmony song Inspiration Lady which he said might not be easy to do and/or they'd been having trouble with that.Susan chimed in with a request for her "initiation" song (Sit Down Young Stranger)
After that Gord at least twice repeated the four requests to make sure he had them all in his mind.
Sure enough in Friday's concert he said something like "lots of old friends here with requests.... Margi I've got you covered and John and Susan I have you covered" then later he introduced IL with a "this one's for John and Susan"!!!
In due course I hope Susan will write up an extended recounting of our adventures and impressions.
(we only lost a couple of bucks in the casinos far too noisy for us).
So what has been happening to the Newsgroup and corfid boards in our absence. Obviously a stream of reports and impressions on the various concerts (did nobody actually record the set list for the first (Thursday) Orleans Casino concert??
I recommend to corfid readers a very new (today) Newsgroup thread entitled
"What is the saddest Lightfoot song?"
which starts at:-

On corfid "the rez" (Rex) who I met briefly at Cerritos but saw in animated discussion with Doug Kirk has started an excellent topic on "My (Your) Favorite Couplet from Gord" at:-

Well All Right time for the commercial...
I know a few met in the chat room while we were away,nd I keep forgetting to stress that since the chat room is always there if any other groups or individuals wish to set up a time to chat (especially the 6 antipodean fans in Sydney/Melbourne and New Zealand please do so.
