I was browsing in the record store the other day and came across the cd Salute and was wondering how it was. Anyone have any comments on it? Also have been reading other posts about people having trouble finding other cd's to buy. There is a fair selection here I saw Painter,Old Dan's Records; Salute, If You Could Read My Mind, Sunday Concert, Summer Side Of Life, Dream Street Rose,East Of Midnight,Shadows and two greatest hits albums. Greetings from Victoria

I didn't have the same "love every song" reaction to it that I've had to earlier albums but I'd buy it just for Tattoo, one of my favorite songs. Also good: Whispers of the North and the title track.

"Whispers of The North" is worth it, as far
as I'm concerned. There can't be a day during the winter, when it does not go though my mind. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! It captures the very essence of the North.

I love Salute. It is different than the rest of his material but great nonetheless. I especially like Biscuit City and the title track. Great CD.

I agree, I love SALUTE. My advice to anyone who is a fan and does not own all GL's CDs is please buy them all, you'll like something on each one, I personally like every song he does, and you'll be helping to get the message back up the line that his stuff still sells. That message will help get us a new CD once he is well enough to consider getting back in the studio. Downloading and copying stuff that is available for sale does not show up in the sales figures.
Bill
And yes I do like Canary Yellow Canoe and Go-Go Round, etc. I really like it all!

Salute is a great CD. Its the first one Gordy did once he quit drinking.
Lots of great music and lyrics in there.
Whispers of the North is autobiographical about preparing for another month long wilderness canoe trip in the canadian North that Gord use to do often.
Gotta get away..is very rockin and good guitar work here.
bisquit city is good too. Its one of my fav's

"Is there someone sewing seams through all my hopes, through all my dreams? You know living a life of ease don't make your meals taste better, if you please".
It is worth buying the CD for that lyric alone. IMHO. Not forgetting 'Romance'

Great Album. Not quite as good as "Shadows" but a number of high quality songs.
* Salute
* Whispers of the North
* Without You
* Tattoo
* Broken Dreams
are my favorites. Well worth the purchase.

Got to agree, "Tattoo" is an all time favourite. Love "Romance" too.
