The issue is your DVD player, not the TV (unlike with videotapes where both of them must be compatible). High end DVD players usually support Region 0. You should check the specs of your unit (or check the manufacturer's web site). If you are uncertain, then simply wait until January for the Region 1 (US and Canada) DVD being released then. It was just announced on the Image Entertainment web site and has a release date of January 29. It is even listed at Amazon already!
