I've always wondered, how rich is Gord? Is he a multi-thousandaire, or 2-dollar millionaire, or what?

I'm sure only he and his CPA know for sure as his income fluctuates daily, what with royalties etc. It's safe to say he's comfortably well off; also a good bet the dollar (Cdn) amount matters less to him than the work itself. I've no idea where he ranks in those annual wealthiest lists, but guaranteed wa-a-y below fellow Canadian Celine Dion, according to a 2001 year-end article in Canadian Business:

"Canadian Business magazine recently released its list of the wealthiest Canadians, and not so surprisingly, a few musicians made the list. The December 31/01 issue named Celine Dion as the top-earning musician, with an estimated wealth of $295 million, putting her ahead of the Molson family and even Jim Carrey (just to put things in perspective). The only other Canadian musicians to make the issue were, surprise, surprise, Shania Twain (tying Canuck-turned super spy Mike Myers) estimated at $80 million. Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan ranked in with $40 million.

Guess starting out in Canadian clubs can work out after all..."

Gord has stated before (in interviews and
in song) that he pays a considerable sum in alimony and "palimony". I'm sure that has put a dent in his life savings over the years. However, having been a major star in his home country for many, many years, no doubt he has someone who watches his money and makes investment decisions for him. I have a feeling that, except for a few splurges, big house, probably a nice car or cars, he does not spend a lot of money on "toys". I doubt he owns a plasma tv. If he has a DVD player, it's probably a recent addition. From a reporter's observations when he was putting together "Harmony", he has few furnishings in his house. Of course, he lives pretty much alone these days. So I guess he saves a lot of his money and getting back on the road would be good for him not only professionally but financially too. This is the first album release where he hasn't had the opportunity to do concerts to support it, so he's probably not happy about that.

I'm sure Gordon's made a pretty penny over time but i wouldn't put him in the stratosphere of say,Madonna,MJ,Mariah Carey or Paul McCartney (& the Beatles.)

Besides,any artist who leaves after the show in a plain butnice tan car,obviously believes that money is good for what it should be used for and that it's not worth being a big spendaholic just to show off some material posessions.

He's not pretentious that way & that's one of the reasons we like him! Been me,later!

He usually leaves in a rental car.
I've seen him drive an older model Blazer. I hear he has an early 90s Caddy, too. Other than that, who knows?

His house in Rosedale sold for over $4 million a few years ago so that give you an idea. Let's say he made a dollar per record sold up to 1980...17 million records (including singles) = $17 million in 1970s dollars. SO that's close to $30 million in today's dollars?
