Hi, It's great to find you all here! I just registered after visiting several times. Listened to GL from the beginning but only saw him in person twice. My family is from the Georgian Bay area and I identify with Gord's values and love of nature.

I was wondering if anyone knows if Gordon ever went on a canoe trip with Pierre Trudeau? I read that Trudeau took many canoe trips up north as well when he was alive.

Welcome BJB,

Hello
My grandfather was born in Penetang and my grandmother in Midland. I remember visiting Honey Harbour many times as a child.

Christian Island is farther to the west and I have never been there. I've lived in Alberta for the past 30 years, and one of the things I miss the most is the expanses of water.

Here's a map that shows Christian Island. http://www.holmestead.ca/chemtrails/holmesteadmap.html

I can't ever recall hearing that Lightfoot and Trudeau ever went on any trips together. The canoe and buckskin coat that Trudeau used to wear are in a museum now.

Given all the accolades Gordon has received over the years,it wouldn't surprise me if he and Trudeau had taken trips together.

By the way,welcome aboard bjb!
