When I was growing up my Father used to sing a song that to this day pulls at the strings in my heart. I asked him once what it was and he said the name was "Miguel" by Gordon Lightfoot. I have been searching for this song for a very long time and I haven't been able to find it. Either the name of the song is wrong or it is by a similar artist. I remember the lyrics to be something like "...And as she cried she laid her head on my side and I swore to my new bride, that I'd swim the rivers and cross the boarders..."
If anyone has any information that would help my quest I would be eternally grateful.

*** Thank you for the help!!! I just ordered the CD, I am so excited!!! ***

Ok, the song Miguel is on the album Summer Side of Life, which is fortunately on CD. I don't remember the lyrics so I am not sure if the lyrics you gave are from that song, BUT....Florian has all the lyrics on this site. Just go to the beginning page of the site and click on "songs" and there is an alphabetical list.
