I recently acquired a demo of 31 Gordon Lightfoot songs (by him!) of which I've only previously heard 3. These are obviously from a tape or acetate (40 years ago, ya know) but now on CD-R....some REAL GEMS! These were supposedly done for Warner Bros.(in 1964!) but they did not use them! Anyone interested in a copy, let me know...

Frank there is an an excellent and detailed review of this album including links to pages with the lyrics on Wayne Francis's
site at:-
http://www.lightfoot.ca/wbdemos.htm
But in brief these 31 demonstration recordings are a collection of original songs Lightfoot recorded from November 1964
through April 1966 and presumably helped ease the way to his most fruitful recording contract with Warners a few years later
There is an interesting posting by Valerie Magee describing the original album acetate etc on the Newsgroup at:-

Val's Newsgroup posting
to a thread concerning these demos started by Mel Whitney.Note that Val discussed whether the CD should have 31 or 32 tracks
if yours came with artwork it might well have shown 32 but the actual CD was only 31??

Thanks, John...No artwork or liner notes, just song titles and that it was GL, Warner Bros. Demos, Circa-'64, and it has 31 tracks.

FortyfivesFrank: I would be very interested in the '64 Lightfoot material. Let me know the cost and I'm there. Thanks a lot.
